I couldn’t believe the news. I was in shock. A baby?
This was not the right time to bring a baby to this world. At least not until I was sure my brother wasn’t a threat to us.
I sat on the bench in the garden facing the lake when Luciano approached me. He sat next to me without saying a word, his head hung low and his elbows on his knees.
“I’m scared,” I broke the silence in a whisper.
Luciano took my hand in his and squeezed it in reassurance.
“Believe it or not, I am too. I never imagined myself being a father. Having a little life to take care of.”
