Chapter Nineteen
“Jenett, you wanted to see me?” Emma asked standing at the door to her office.
“Come in and sit, Emma.”
Emma sat down. She assumed this was about Greg. Nothing in Jenett’s manner indicated if it was going to be good or bad news. The waiting of the past few months had been killing her. She waited for Jenett to speak.
“We have a problem, Emma.”
Emma’s head dropped and her world dissolved. This journey had been so strange. To come this far and to discover so many things about herself and to have it end…”
“I convinced the board,” Jenett said.
Emma’s head snapped back up. Despair turned to elation. She and Greg…but what problem? Her eyes were like two hot coals as she waited for the other shoe to drop.
“I’m going to make the announcement tonight just after dinner but…”
