Maisie’s Flashback*
“Please stop,” I pleaded in a hushed voice as his hands aggressively groped my breasts. I bit my lip and closed my eyes, concealing the fear and despair within me. However, it only fueled his actions further. “Please stop,” I repeated, my voice on the verge of tears. My arms hung lifelessly at my sides. They felt like two useless, dead, lead logs.
Silently, I prayed to the Goddess, begging for him to cease. I was so sore and exhausted from last night’s encounter that I lacked the strength to resist him.
He lifted me as if I were a rag doll and threw me across the table. The impact against the opposite wall caused me to groan in pain. He grunted and seized my hair, yanking me to my feet.
“You need to be taught some manners.” With one hand, he hit the back of my head as hard as he could. He held the fist of his other hand over me, the meaty hand with a gold Alpha ring on the finger. His fists relentlessly pounded my stomach, causing me to cough and double over. He released my hair, and I collapsed onto the floor. However, my relief was short-lived as he pulled me up and forced me against the cupboard. His words “Tell me no again. I will kill you” were punctuated with blows and vicious kicks. He grabbed his belt from his trousers and flogged me over and over, the metal buckle piercing the skin of my shoulders. My breathing was ragged as I tried to process the trauma and the pain, feeling lightheaded. Finally, he released me, and I crumpled at his feet. Pain radiated throughout my body.
“We have to escape,” my wolf, Sif, urgently. “He’s going to kill us tonight.” “I can’t move,” I protested. “I can’t breathe.” “Then shift,” Sif pleaded, desperation in her voice.
My screams were muffled as he grabbed my hair and dragged me backward. I reached for his arm, struggling to free myself. He dragged me into the bedroom. “You will obey me!!”
“Please stop,” I sobbed, my head drooping, unable to move as the tears poured down my cheeks.
In a swift move, he tossed me onto the bed. His lustful hands ran all over me, touching every bit of skin before pushing between my legs. He was violent, as he began r****g me without warning, the full weight of his body on top of me. I cried out when his teeth tore open my flesh, his jaws closing tightly about my shoulder. He repeatedly nipped and tugged at my shoulder with his teeth, reminding me of his dominance.
Suddenly, the door burst open, and a figure entered the room, exuding an unexpected level of strength for a Beta. He swiftly kicked the Gavriil away from me and let out a powerful roar. “You will not harm my daughter!” The Gavriil visibly trembled in fear, then turned and fled, leaving me alone in the bedroom. The Beta knelt down beside me, his brows furrowed deeply, his gaze filled with concern.
“Please don’t hurt me,” I pleaded as the tears streamed down my face. He helped me sit, but I hissed from the sharp burning sensation as he gently brushed the blood-matted strands of hair away from my face, Gently, he lifted my chin and looked into my eyes. “It’s alright now,” he whispered in a reassuring tone his slight Russian accent more notable as he was livid. “You won’t be hurt again. I promise.”
As the full realization of my situation sank in, I broke down and sobbed. My body was sore and broken, I ached with humiliation and shame, my spirit was broken.
**End of Flashback
During the nightmare I had tossed and turned, screaming and defending myself as if I had been transported back in time. Dimly I heard voices, I knew Nikolai’s but I couldn’t place the other voices. Why were they at Gavriil’s house? Thoroughly confused I screamed, “Nikolai help me!!”
My eyes snapped open and I slowly sat up, panting and disorientated. I saw Nikolai and Hanna sitting beside me, their faces drawn with rage.
Hanna was the first to speak, her voice soft, “Are you okay?”
Nikolai had a grim look on his face. His eyes were dark, and his lips were pressed together in a firm line. His gaze never wavered from mine, his eyes blazing.
“I…um…what happened?”
“You were screaming. You called out to me.” Nikolai said, his voice strained, and his words clipped.
“What did I say?” I was completely disoriented.
“You were screaming for help.” Nikolai’s voice was gentle.
“I…I’m sorry,” I murmured softly. I could hear Nikolai’s sharp intake of breath as his expression turned cold.
“You have nothing to apologize for. Don’t ever apologize for that,” his voice was laced with fury.
Nikolai reached out and placed a hand on my shoulder “Hush, my little wolf. You are safe.” He murmured soothingly as he cradled me in his arms. My mind was spinning and the nightmares that had troubled my sleep were still in my mind, my heart beat wildly so like a wildfire, he brushed my hair away from my forehead, and his lips brushed my skin in a soothing manner, I let out a long sigh and basked in his embrace.
Hanna gave me a sad smile and pressed a kiss to my forehead, “You are not in control of what happened, but you can take control of your future. We are here for you. We will help you no matter what.” As I looked up into Hanna’s eyes, I couldn’t help but feel the warmth radiating from her deep gaze.
Her words were comforting, and I felt the tension in my body slowly fade away. My eyelids fluttered close, and I let the darkness claim me.
“I’ll never let anyone hurt you,” Nikolai whispered, his lips brushing the top of my head. His warm breath tickled my skin.
Nikolai and Hanna stayed with me until they knew I was asleep, Nikolai rose and pulled off his shirt, slipping it over a pillow and tucking the pillow against my chest.
