In a clearing next to a ramshackle building Maisie’s white wolf was covered in blood, nearly half a dozen dead or dying wolves and men were lying strewn across the clearing. The tall pines had dead bodies impaled on branches nearly 8 feet up. There was a foul stench in the air which was mixed with the metallic scent of blood. The gruesome sight had more gore and blood than one of Maisie’s horror movies. Three men were suspended in the air. It seemed as if what held them up was struggling. They swayed limply.
