Nikolai and Hanna strode towards Nikolai’s office, with the twins and Mikhail mysteriously appearing alongside them. The intensity of Hanna’s fury was palpable, emanating from her in waves. Her voice dripped with venom as she stated “Gavriil, her r****t f*****g dies”. She scanned each man’s face before fixing her gaze on Nikolai. “Handle it, or I will,” she declared, her words hanging in the air, leaving everyone stunned. It wasn’t just her commanding tone that shocked them, but also the vacant look in her eyes, a sight they had never witnessed before.
Observing his mate’s unnerving calm, Mikhail reached out and gently squeezed Hanna’s shoulder. “Hanna,” he murmured softly, concern etched on his face. Hanna reciprocated the touch, their eyes meeting briefly before she let out a sigh, her rage still simmering beneath the surface. “I can’t,” she whispered, her voice trembling. Mikhail took her hand and placed it on his heart. She took a deep breath, her voice growing resolute. “My s ….Maisie needs us. We must involve the other packs to ensure her safety. I’m certain Gavriil will come searching for her, and we’ll need all the help we can get.
Mikhail nodded in agreement; his eyes filled with determination. “Yes, we must rally the other packs to safeguard the Luna of The Golden River Pack. We’ll send someone to meet with Caleb and gather any information he may have. French’s Beta has volunteered to investigate the Alpha who Maisie.”
Alexei chimed in, his voice firm. “We’ll do whatever it takes to protect our Luna. It’s crucial that we unite all the packs against Gavriil, displaying our collective strength.”
Nikolai cleared his throat, capturing Mikhail’s attention. “Mikhail, there’s something I need to tell you,” He began, but Mikhail interrupted, already aware of the situation. “Anton informed Hanna and me before he left. He hadn’t checked in for the past sixteen hours, around the same time Maisie was attacked. I’ve contacted the council, awaiting an updated report within twenty minutes.” He turned to Hanna. “While we search for Gavriil, we also need to find four other individuals.” Hanna tilted her head, curiosity piqued. “I know about Anton, but who are the other three?” Mikhail sighed, exchanging a glance with Nikolai. “We must locate her mother and brother, and that fucker Casimir.”
Nikolai’s wolf let out a low snarl, his gaze flashing dark. “Her family is dead, Mikhail There’s no point in searching for them. She’s the Luna of our pack now, and I won’t let her go again. Not for anyone or anything.” He spoke firmly, his jaw clenched.
Hanna smiled at her Alpha. “There’s nothing wrong with having hope. We can’t ignore the fact that her parents and brother are missing.” She paused, her eyes gleaming with mischief. “You seem to care about her, Nikolai. I’ve never seen you this protective.” She raised an eyebrow, smirking. “Is the big, bad, cruel, deadly Alpha finally falling in love?”
Nikolai growled low in his throat. “I’m not in love. She’s my Luna. She belongs to me. I’ll kill anyone who hurts her.” Hanna shook her head. “You can fool everyone else, but not me.”
Mikhail laughed and wrapped his arm around his mate’s waist. “You’ve struck a nerve, my love,” he teased, grinning.
“I didn’t mean to offend him, but I can see how much he cares about her,” Hanna protested, giggling.
Alexei chuckled, winking at Hanna. “It’s alright, sweetheart, Niko just isn’t used to being questioned.”
Nikolai’s lips curved slightly, his eyes glinting with humor. “My personal life is none of your business. Just because you two are hopelessly in love doesn’t mean the rest of us are.” He retorted.
“It’s alright, Nikolai. We understand that you’re scared.” Alexei said, smirking, and Dmitri snorted. “Scared, he’s not scared, he’s terrified,” he joked.
Mikhail tossed his two cents worth of teasing in there. “He did call her Daragaya”
“I didn’t call her that,” Nikolai snapped, glaring at the group. “That’s only a term of endearment I’d use with my mate,”
Hanna cackles “She is your f*****g mate!”
The men continued their banter, ignoring the growls emanating from the Alpha.
Nikolai growled, baring his teeth. “You are all out of line, Do not test my patience.” Hanna laughed, not the least bit intimidated by her Alpha. “Come on, admit it. You’ve never brought anyone here. Hell, you’ve never even let anyone see the inside of the packhouse. This girl must be special.” Nikolai glared at her, his fists clenching.
“Niko, we are your family, and we will always have your back. We raised her too. Don’t shut us out. Let us in.” Alexei pleaded. Nikolai’s face softened, and his shoulders relaxed.
“She is special to me, she is perfection. The light in the dark " Nikolai confessed.
Alexei chuckled, shaking his head. “You’re not just falling in love, you’re already in love,” he said, grinning.
Nikolai grinned, his eyes lighting up. “I have been, for years”
“So, she’s your mate then? " Mikhail asked, his expression serious. He was torn up, Maisie was his niece and she didn’t remember him Nikolai’s gaze met his and he gave a short nod “Da she is our mate”
The twins spoke up, both wearing the same smirk. “Does this mean we’re keeping her again? We aren’t letting her leave?” They said in unison.
Mikhail’s brows furrowed, his gaze intense. “We are keeping her. She is our Luna. She’s my f*****g niece, and she is not going anywhere. Gavriil is a danger to her, and she is our responsibility.”
Hanna’s eyes gleamed with excitement. “Then it’s settled. We’ll find Maisie’s family, and we’ll kill Gavriil.”
Nikolai nodded, pinching the bridge of his nose. “This situation is a complete clusterfuck.” Nikolai’s eyes flashed dark, his wolf snarling. “That motherfucker is still alive and a threat.”
He placed his hand on Nikolai’s shoulder, his eyes softening. “You have very powerful allies. The other Alphas will listen to you. If we want answers, we should meet with Caleb’s Beta to gather more information. If it confirms your suspicions, we’ll prepare for the search of the Luna’s family.” Dmitri nodded; determination etched on his face. “I’ll gather more weapons. He won’t anticipate us coming at him like this. Hey Nikolai, can I bring the grenades?”
Nikolai barked out a laugh, shaking his head. “You know we don’t use those.” He glanced at the rest of his pack’s leadership, a small smile tugging at his lips. “Alright, I need to check on our Luna and our Printsessa. and then we’ll get started on our plan. Be prepared to leave at a moment’s notice.”
Alexei interjected, shaking his head. “Let’s not jump to conclusions. We don’t know the extent of Gavriil’s power or if he’s still involved at all.” Hanna raised an eyebrow, crossing her arms. “He’s still in the picture, I can f*****g feel it. But we must remain prepared for whatever lies ahead.”
Alexei sighed, running a hand through his hair. “If this situation is as grave as you believe it is, we should be ready to strike first. Let’s gather the intel, and once we have all the facts, we’ll plan our attack.” Nikolai clapped a hand on Alexei’s shoulder. “Cousin, I’m glad I made you and Dmitri my Lead warriors. You two need to come up with a rotating shift. I want one of you with Maisie at all times.”
Dmitri chuckled, nodding in agreement. “Agreed, but you do realize we can’t do this alone. Not if she’s anything like she was before” Alexei smirked, his eyes sparkling with amusement. “Dmitri, do you really think we can’t protect one tiny female?”
Nikolai cleared his throat, interrupting the twins. “She is tiny. She looks no older than when she was taken 3 years ago. I think we have another issue. I don’t know if she ever got her wolf. Sometimes I think I can smell a wolf, then I can’t”
The man’s eyes widened in surprise. “That would explain why her scent is different. I can smell the human but can’t pick up on the wolf. She doesn’t smell like a normal human.” Alexei commented. “Is this something for us to worry about today, or put it on the back burner?”
Mikhail shook his head, a smile tugging at his lips. “It’s something we should consider. For now, our priority is gathering the necessary information.”
Hanna sat there and listened for now she was oddly quiet. Everyone turned their gaze on her, and when she realized it she flashed an innocent look at them. Yeah, she was up to something.
Nikolai nodded, a look of resolve etched on his face. “Let’s get some rest. We still have jobs to handle " He looked at his watch “In two f*****g hours” Everyone groaned, filing out of the office to their respective rooms.
