I slid across the seat and cuddled up next to him. He took his hand off the shifter and put his arm around me for a bit. "You look beautiful," he said, keeping his eyes on the road, "Like a lemon cupcake just waiting to be eaten up. Smell like one too." I giggled, "That's kinda the point." "Was that for me?" he asked, meaning the way I'd dressed. "Yeah, kinda. I wanted to look nice for you. Dinner was for everyone. I want Mom to be happy too." He squeezed me before taking his arm from around me and I sat back up so I wouldn't interfere with his driving, but I stayed close. I noticed then that we weren't going into town by the usual road.
