For the night at the theater, Miranda wore a high collared cream colored gown with blue trim at the bodice, sleeves and hem. Ringlets of curls framed her face and a feathered hat completed the ensemble. Her maid sighed as she fastened a choker of pearls around her neck. “You are lovely, my lady.” Miranda smiled. She had taken care with her appearance. After all, seeing and being seen were as important as the play itself, more important to many. When she joined her mother downstairs, she saw Lady Somers had also dressed with care in a striped silk chartreuse gown with her golden hair hidden beneath a turban.
