Chapter 3

Koni's POV I kept looking at around the elevator. My heart beat quickened as the floor got higher. It is as if they could match my heart beat by how quickly they were moving. Maybe I was too nervous of meeting my dad after a while. Then the elevator stopped on the 40th floor and the doors slowly opened. I stepped out and I felt dizzy. I leaned into my uncle for extra support. He held me and I could tell he knew I was not well. I could barely walk properly. He made me sit down and went over some lady who was busy on her laptop. When she looked up, my uncle asked to see my father and she had a questioning look on her face. "Uhm, do you have any appointment with Mr. Williams?" she looked down on my uncle. Her face had heavy make up on. Long lashes, big cute eyes and the colour of her eyes were brown with a black center being surrounded the black. Her eyes had a weary and somewhat dismissals look. She looked upto me and I saw hate in those eyes. Why does she hate me? I never met her before and she already hates me. I rolled my eyes on her. "Douchebag!" I mumbled. "Yes I do have an appointment miss. Inform him that his brother is here with his daughter, okay?" uncle Chris said, somehow not impressed by the secretary's attitude. He must somehow felt how unwelcoming she is. "Sir you name please?" she asked somehow not convinced by uncle Chris reply. I was though, he answered the b***h like how she should be answered. With a bad attitude. "Christopher Hitchens," he said while he came towards me. He helped me up and he was leading me through the big double doors. "Sir I haven't allowed you through and Mr. Williams is in a meeting right now. Please wait." Uncle Chris turned around and looked at the lady, " Mr. Williams has already told me to come in. No need to let us through." "Sir you can't go in. If you proceed making any steps I will lose my job," the receptionist somehow said some genuine thing for the first time. "You won't get fired I promise, but you will get a warning for that attitude of yours. It's very unwelcoming at all. Please fix it right away." We proceeded to head into the big doors. When they opened my heart skipped a beat. It was a big office, stylish and elegant. It has mom's print all over it. The arrangement, decor, colours and warmth in it. I looked around and my eyes fell into the man I know when I was young. Hazel eyes, they were filled with a warm welcoming love. A longing lost one. Black curly hair, a tired look, some appearances of wrinkles on dad's face. He got up with a wide smile and arms. Calling me towards his embrace. I quickly made my way to his arms. He embraced me tightly, showed me with kisses on my face, forhead and hair. Tears started rolling down his face. I wiped away them not knowing mine are falling too. They were warm. Tears of joy.. always warm. He looked relieved. Happy. All those happy emotions. "Hello sunshine, how are you my sweet daughter?" He asked while holding me close. As if he was scared he will lose me again. To be honest I will never leave him. He is my father that I longed for. I would be stupid if I leave him again. "I am fine daddy, I missed you so much. I am sorry I left with mom. I should have stopped her. You wouldn't have been this miserable." I hugged him tighter. Tears roling down my cheeks, hot tears. They were filled with so much sadness. They are burning my cheecks. I wiped them away quickly. I looked up and met my father's gaze. "Dad, mommy left us. She died two months ago due to cancer. I am sorry we never came early. I wish she had spent her last days on earth with you." "Crystal," I heard my father whisper mom's name. He broke from my embrace and excused himself. He disappeared into a room in his office. I was left with uncle Chris and this other man. He has a young, handsome looking man. His jawline seemed like it crafted by a chisel, full pink lips, a straight sharp nose, blue eyes and his lashes were long and full of volume. His brows were is shape, his hair neatly cut. He had a face of a greek god. A body like those people from magazines His muscles were showing from his tight shirt. He looked up to me and my heart skipped a beat. He was so handsome. He extended his arm. I touched and it felt warm. He had a strong arm, slender fingers which are perfectly long. His veins were popping a little bit on his arm. I wanted to snatch his arm away for me to keep. He brought me back to reality but his voice so chanting. It was as if he put me under his spell. My body reacted to his touch and the smooth, deep voice of his. "I am Carlton Tucker," he says as he shakes my hand. I was suddenly shy, I managed to mumble my name and last name. "Koni Williams." He lets go of my hand and it felt cold. I watched as he extend his to uncle Chris and they introduce each other. Afterwards we start in awkward silent. I look around the office and I felt his eyes wereon me. I couldn't meet his. I was shy all of a sudden. I decided to give in and look at his. When I did, our eyes locked. He had no expression in his face. I couldn't read hie eyes either. I looked down at my hands after searching his face and couldn't find any emotions at all. "Daddy were are you?" I mentally asked him as if he could hear me. I really want him here cause he will be the perfect distraction from what my body is reacting too. Carlton Tucker, he can be the guy of dreams. "How could you think of that at this time Koni, go and check up on your dad," I thought. I got up and went into the same direction my dad disappeared ten minutes ago. I felt my wrist warm all of a sudden when I was about to reach the door knob.
