"Nooo!" In the midst of her torment, Vanessa jolted awake, drenched in sweat, her heart racing and pounding in her chest. Alexander was there, kneeling beside her on the bed, his face filled with worry. He had been shaking her, calling out her name, and trying to bring her back to reality.
