RYLEE'S P.O.V. After we got home, I went to bed, or at least that's what I told everyone else. I'm sitting here working on another presentation for Argus instead, it's the only thing that seems to calm my mind anymore. I sit and type on the computer I bought recently, my mind is anywhere else than on this presentation. 'In conclusion, I think Luka sucks and Rylee should be able to live her life how she deems fit, the whole reason it started in the first place was that he's still madly in love with her and can't seem to get over it even though he already has a f*****g girlfriend.' "f**k!" I groan as I read what I have written, I'm sure saving the planet from national deforestation isn't anything compared to what's going on in the Rylee show this week. I delete the last part I have written and close my laptop. Apparently, not even the one thing I love can take my mind off of this, why did this have to happen? I pick up my sketchbook and draw. The one thing I know how to do to get my frustration out., without hurting myself or someone else. I sit for a few hours when there is a light knock on my bedroom door. "Come in," I say loud enough but not too loud. "Hey, I just wanted to see if you were okay." Jake opens the door. "I'm fine," I answer. "Yeah, that doesn't look fine," he says pointing to my drawing. "I'm fine Jake," I said as I continue to sketch away. "Okay, well if you want to talk," he answers. "I'm good," I answer without looking at him, I'm mad at them for going through my sketchbook. I've been avoiding them since we got home because of it. He leaves the room without another word and my phone dings. Text: Luka. 'Can we talk?' 'f**k off.' 'Come outside please.' 'f**k off.' 'Fine, I'm coming in then.' 'f**k off.' A few minutes go by and there's a knock on my door once more. "f**k off!" I yell loudly. "If it didn't work the first three times you said it, it's not going to work now." he scoffs. "Get out Luka." I roll my eyes without even looking at him. "Rylee," Luka says lowly standing a bit away. "What?" I ask as if he didn't just break my heart. "I'm sorry, I should have said something I just couldn't," he responds. "Okay." I brush it off. "Okay?" he asks raising a brow. "We all do things for our own reasons Luka, I'm sure you had yours," I answer. "I don't want to lose you, Rylee," Luka says lowly. "You already did Luka," I answer "So, what that's it? Seven years of friendship gone just like that?!" he yells "You let it go, the moment those words left her mouth you should have opened yours. When I meant to always put her first, I didn't mean when she called me a slut, you've punched guys for looking at me wrong but suddenly your girlfriend is more important than me. I would have beaten the f**k out of her for what she said if she wasn't your girlfriend." I say sternly. "You left Rylee, remember that? You left the moment I told you I was in love with you. You weren't even supposed to hear it! Instead of talking to me and airing out the situation you ran!" he yells stepping closer to me. "You built up this expectation of me Luka! Your own version of me and to be honest I was scared okay!" I yell back, now standing. "Scared of what Rylee?! There was nothing for you to be scared of!" he yells stepping forward again. "Scared of letting you down Luka! Scared of my feelings for you! Scared that I wouldn't live up to the expectations you set for me!" I yell again. "It wasn't fair." he scoffed. "It wasn't fair?" I ask laughing a little. "You f*****g left me, Rylee, I was confused and worried," he says flatly. "You know what wasn't fair Luka? Hm?" I ask as I step closer to him. "Confessing your f*****g feelings to me while you were drunk, on my f*****g birthday!" I yell. "I'm done, I can't do this anymore." I laugh lightly taking off the neckless he had given me a few years back. "For years, I've kept this on and held it close no matter what we had gone through. But I'm f*****g done." I say shoving it into his chest. "Rylee," he says putting his hand over mine. "Don't." I scoff pushing him back "Rylee," he says sternly pulling me towards him. "Just let it go, Luka," I say lowly. "I can't." he sighs hugging me tightly, against my better judgment I hug him back. We sit like that for a few minutes before he speaks. "Did you say you were scared, of your feelings for me?" he asks looking down at me. "I had feelings for you, a while ago... but you are dating Daisy now and I like Collin, I can---" I say looking up at him. I see something flicker in his eyes before he leans down and kisses me, after the moment of shock wore off, I kissed him back. We pulled apart, our foreheads still touching as we both breathe heavily onto each other. "Daisys pregnant," he says, his voice barely a whisper. "WHAT!" I yell shoving him back. "I'm sorry I don't know why I just said that." he stumbled on his words. "Get out," I say sternly. "Rylee, you can't deny what just happened, I know you felt it too." Luka pleaded. "Luka, Daisy is pregnant and I'm pretty sure you are the dad?" I pause and he nods. "So, you f*****g kiss me?" I yell. "Rylee, please I want to be with you." he pleads. "No, you need to be with Daisy," I answer and open the door. "Rylee," he says in a broken tone. "Go Luka. This never happened." I say pushing him out the door. "Rylee." He pleads again. "OUT" I yell loudly. He sulks out of my room, stopping to look at me before leaving. His eyes beg me to make him stay, but I can't. Everything in me wants to run again but I need to stop running when things get hard. I know this but the weight on my shoulders is getting heavier. Text: Puppy 'I miss you' I stare at the words I have typed; he's going to think I'm crazy. I just saw him a few hours ago but I feel like I can't sleep without him anymore. I delete it. Text: Puppy 'Goodnight, puppy.' I lay down and try to ignore the thoughts running through my head. Why would Luka do this? The butterflies in my stomach when we kissed were unimaginable but he got someone pregnant. I mean how stupid could he be? I can't be with him, even if Daisy wasn't pregnant. It was a mistake; I can't love him. COLLIN'S P.O.V. After everything that happened tonight, I just wanted to be by her, I wanted to know she was okay. I drove to her house like an i***t and I watch as Luka storms out the front door, Jake yelling at him as he walks down the street. I'm such an i***t, I was so clueless to even think she liked me. I drive home in anger, but I still miss her. I pull in the driveway and I'm not prepared for all the questions I'm about to have. I look down at my phone, 9:45 pm. It rings and I question myself whether or not to answer it. "Hello?" I say in an annoyed tone hoping that she'll get the hint. "Come over, please," she begs. "Why?" I scoff "I just need a friend right now..." she continues, I can hear muffled sniffs and even though I hate her, I agree. I pull out of the driveway and head to her house, when I get there, she opens the door for me and I head in. "So, what's wrong Layla?" I ask sitting on the couch. "You're moving on and it hurts." she sniffles. "You f****d someone else why we were together." I laugh amused. "It doesn't mean it doesn't hurt me, Collin," she says as a tear falls from her eyes. "I don't know what to tell you, Layla." I scoff. "Do you love her?" she asks. "I um- I" I start and the door opens, in comes Daisy and Luka. Luka glares at me, and Daisy puts her head down. "What happened between you guys?" Layla asks. "Nothing." Daisy answers. I roll my eyes in annoyance. "Aren't you with Rylee?" Luka asks raising a brow. "Weren't you just coming out of her house?" I ask with a smirk on my face. "I thought you were done with her!" Daisy yells and runs to her room, Luka glares at me before following behind. "Rylee huh?" Layla asks. "Yes," I answer as I stand. "Where are you going?" she scoffs. "Home, we aren't a thing, Layla. Haven't been for a long time and aren't going to be ever again." I answer as I walk to the door. "Don't worry, I won't tell Rylee you were here." she scoffs rolling her eyes. "Go ahead." I laugh closing the door behind me. A few minutes later and I'm home, I go inside, my mother is reading and my dad is watching t.v. I put my keys on the hook and grabbed water from the fridge. "Did you have fun?" my mother asks. "No, not really." I sighed sitting next to her. "What happened?" she asks sweetly. "There was a big fight, between Rylee and her best friend's girlfriend. I think she's really upset about it. She told him she didn't want to be friends anymore." I answer. "Well did he try to stop it?" she asks. "No, he sat by while his girlfriend called her a w***e and a slut." I answer. "Oh god, poor Rylee," she says putting her hand on her chest. "The girl even hit her," I say looking at my phone. "Is she okay?" she asks. "Yeah, she's fine," I answer. "Did she hit her back?" my dad asks. "No, she did whisper something in her ear that made her freak out but I think she did it out of respect for Luka," I answer. "Luka?" my mom asks. "Her best friend," I answer. "Oh, the one she told me about, oh no I feel so bad for her." my mother answers. "I don't," my father scoffed, my mom gave him a shut-up look. "Oh, don't look at me like that. She did the right thing, was it a shitty thing? Yeah, but learn a lesson from this son. Stick up for your girlfriend, if it's her friends or your friends." my father answers pausing for a moment. "But, if your girlfriend flips out on them and she is in the wrong, tell her that in private. Never in public or in front of anyone else." my father continues. "As you did with Ron?" my mother asks raising a brow. "Oh, this again, we were 17 Hazle. Let it go" my father rolls his eyes. "You embarrassed me!" she yells. "You embarrassed me!" he says. "Move on you two, you guys have been fighting about this since I was 10, probably even before that." I laugh, walking upstairs. "I see the way you look at her, Collin. Don't forget she's still healing, okay?" my mom says to me as I head upstairs. "I know." I smile as my phone dings. Text: Darling 'Goodnight, puppy.' 'Goodnight, darling.' I miss her, I miss her so much I don't even want to climb in my bed anymore knowing she won't be beside me. Although if I text her that she'll think I'm crazy or something, I get up the steps and look at the room. It looks so empty and boring now that she's gone, she's not sitting on the bed working on a presentation for Argus anymore, or working on homework that she whines and complains about not understanding, or working on sketches I wasn't meant to see. "UGH." I groan looking at the empty bed. "Are you okay?" My mom yells up the steps. "Yeah, just stubbed my toe," I answer making up an excuse so she doesn't tease me anymore. "Missing Rylee?" My brother asks popping his head in the door. "f**k off Alex." I laugh. "Listen it's okay, you can come to cuddle me tonight." he laughs "Shut up." I laugh. "Hey, whatcha talking about?" Kaylen asks. "Go away Kaylen." Alex scoffs. "Hey, knock it off," I say playfully pushing him. "She's so annoying." he scoffs. "She's still our sister," I answer. "We were talking about Rylee," I answer. "I miss her," she says with a sad face. "She's coming over for dinner tomorrow," I say hoping to make her smile. "Yeah, I know, I just miss when she was here all the time," she answers. "Me too." I sigh. "So, you do like her?" she asks. "Shut up" I laugh lightly. "I knew it!" she yells. "I did too!" her best friend Madilynn comes around the corner. "Oh god Madilynn, you're going to give me a heart attack." I laugh. "That's too bad, Rylee's sweet and all but I would be better." she scoffs. "Way to young Madilynn." I laugh. "Not in my dreams I'm not." she winks at me. "Okay, get out." I roll my eyes. "Why does Alex get to be in here?" Kaylen whines. "Because Alex's friends don't dream about me," I answer. "We are just going to play Xbox anyways." Alex answers. "I liked when Rylee was here, she would always let me hang out with her," Kaylen whines walking away. "And when that doesn't work out, I'll be waiting Collin." Madilynn smiles walking away, I shake myself off because closing the door. "She's insane," Alex says laughing. "I know" I scoff. "Though she's only 2 years younger than Rylee..." Alex says nudging me. "And Rylee is only 1 year and 4 months younger than me." I laugh. "Whatever, let's play," Alex says grabbing a controller and sitting on the bean bag chairs. RYLEE'S P.O.V. I lay awake in bed and check the time. 11:45 pm. I get out of bed and head downstairs. "I was wondering when you were going to get a snack," Noah says as I walk into the kitchen. "Just need a drink," I answer without looking at him. "Hey, what's wrong?" Dean asks as I walk back towards the steps. "Why don't you ask your boyfriend." I scoff without turning around. "Or Melissa, or Jason, or Jake," I answer turning around. "What did we do?" Noah asks. "Hmm, going through my bag?" I say crossing my arms. "Rylee, we just wanted to know where you were," he says like it's an actual excuse. "Okay fine, what about my sketchbook?" I ask raising my eyebrows. "Okay, I know that was wrong." Noah answers. "One thing, one thing I have never been okay with is you going through the one part of me I keep a secret," I answer. "I know, but the drawings were pretty...hot..." he answers. "We didn't do anything!" I yell. "They were really realistic," Noah says to Dean. "Alright. FAMILY MEETING!" I yell loudly, a few seconds later everyone comes downstairs. "What's up?" Melissa asks. "Sit," I say pointing to the table. "Let me make this clear, Collin and I didn't do anything. I sketch things, I know how to make them look real. There was no reason for you to go through my things, especially not my sketchbook." I say sternly. "So, you and Collin aren't dating?" Melissa asks. "No," I answer bluntly. "And you guys didn't f**k?" Noah asks. "No," I answer again. "I made rules, things we couldn't cross before I left that night. No s*x, no feelings." I said lowly. "I wasn't stupid, I was safe about who I was staying with," I say sternly. "Good, so now that you aren't staying there?" Melissa asks. "What about it?" I ask. "Are you guys going to date or?" Melissa asks. "I don't know, but I do know something you guys don't," I say teasingly. "What?" Melissa says her eyebrow raised. "I'm not telling you until you guys apologize," I say turning my head away. "I'm sorry for going through your stuff and your sketchbook," they say in unison. "Daisy's pregnant," I say with a smirk. "And Luka kissed you?!" Jake says loudly. "Wait Luka kissed you?!" Noah yells. "Damn Jake." I roll my eyes. "What was it like?" Melissa asks. "Did you get butterflies?!" Dean asks. "He kissed me when he knew Daisy was pregnant," I answer with a straight face. "Okay, Daisy's pregnant we get it. How was the kiss?!" Melissa yells. "It was a kiss, Melissa; it was a mistake, okay?" I sigh walking away. I hear their murmurs as I walk upstairs. I lay down on the bed checking my phone again, still nothing from Collin. Maybe he doesn't miss me as I miss him, maybe he's sleeping perfectly fine without me. I spent three weeks beside him and now I can't sleep in my own bed. "Hey," Melissa says quietly walking into my room. "Yeah?" I ask sitting up. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have pushed you about your kiss with Luka. I was just so excited it finally happen; I didn't think about how it happened at the worst possible time." Melissa said sitting next to me. "I know, I just...Daisy is pregnant, and Luka is the father." I answer. "I'm sorry Rylee, I wasn't thinking straight," she says lowly. "It's okay, I just wanted things to be about someone else for once," I say. "I just want to know about your time with Collin." she smiles happily. "Fine, fine. You dragged it out of me." I smile. "Really?" she asks, her eyes light up. "Yeah." I smile. She hops around on the bed to get comfy in front of me waiting for me to start talking. "So, what happened!" she practically yelled. "So, I called him that night and asked to stay with him for a while. He came and got me and I set the rules in place before we left the house, he agreed and we went to his house. I sort of explained it to his parents and then the rest of his family in the morning and we just hung out and got to know each other." I say. "I need to know details," she whined. "Okay, okay. I slept in his bed, in his clothes because I forgot clothes to sleep in." I said before she cut me off. "Did you guys cuddle?!" she said excitedly. "Yes," I answer rolling my eyes, and she squeals. "I explained everything to him once I was comfortable enough to do so and he didn't push me for information or what was going on in my head. After about a week I started to get comfortable enough to be able to talk to him about some things, by the last day he knew almost everything." I explain. "That's good, I'm glad he respected your boundaries." she smiles. "I am too. It was nice being around someone who didn't ask me if I was okay while I was having a panic attack or sobbing into a pillow." I laugh. "What did he do instead?" she asks raising an eyebrow. "He held me for a while after he ran me a nice hot bath and got me food. lighting candles in the bathroom and the bedroom so if my head hurt, I wouldn't need light to see," I answer. "That's so sweet," she says making a pouty face. "It really was, he helped me with homework and listened to me ramble on about my presentations for Argus. I got to know a lot about him and his family, and they always included me in things like family game night, Friday night dinners with the rest of the family. Collin made me stop working to come to hang out with everyone." I continued. "You are blushing." she teases. "I am not, it's just hot in here." I smile. "You really enjoyed your time away, huh?" she asks. "I did, but I think it was more the company," I answer. "Why did you call Collin that night?" she asks with a questionable look. "I don't really know, I could've called a bunch of people and asked them but with Collin was the last place you guys would have looked," I answer. "Did you like Collin before you stayed with him?" she asks giving me a teasing look. "No, I thought he was cute but we didn't know a lot about each other," I answer. "Sometimes friendship is the first step to start the best love story," she answers smirking. "Sometimes," I answer. I knew she was talking about Luka, but Luka is going to be a dad. "Okay, well I should let you get to bed." she chuckles. "Actually, you want to stay for a while? Watch a movie like old times?" I ask hoping it'll help me sleep. "Yeah, sure why not?" she answers with a smile. COLLIN'S P.O.V. I got in the shower after Alex and I played Xbox for a few hours. I still wasn't tired though; I keep thinking I'm going to climb into bed next to her and I know I'm not but I'm hopeful that when I go out to bed she will be there. I sigh and open the door, rolling my eyes at the sight in front of me. "I thought you could use some company tonight" Madilynn smirks. "Get out." I open my bedroom door. "Come on Collin, I'm not that much younger than Rylee," she says trying to seductively crawl across the bed. "Out Madilynn," I say sternly and roll my eyes at her attempt. "I will have you one day Collin," she smirks before walking out the door. I laugh a little and shut the door locking it before walking over to the bed. I lay down on the bed and scroll through my phone for a while, I check the time. 11:45 pm. Almost midnight, I wonder if she can't sleep either. Maybe I should text her? But if she is sleeping peacefully, I don't want to wake her up. What if she isn't? What if she can't sleep like I can't? I get up and head downstairs, past Kaylen's room and Alex's rooms. I really don't want to see Madilynn after her fable attempts to f**k me didn't work, although if it was Rylee, I would have done it in heartbeat. I sit in the kitchen eating a brownie when Kaylen comes down, she shuffles past me with her head down. "Hey," I say to her hoping for a response. "Hi," she says barely a whisper. "Everything okay?" I ask as she walks past me, catching her arm. "Everything is fine," she answers jerking her arm away, I stand up and block her path. "What's wrong?" I ask. "Just leave me alone Collin." she basically yells at me, trying to push past. "Kaylen just talk to me," I say softly. "I don't want to talk about it," she says looking past me. I turn to the steps and see Madilynn staring her down like she's her boss of some sort. "Okay, okay," I answer letting her walk past me. I pick up my phone and call Rylee. Hopefully, she'll be willing to come over and help me or just help in some way. "Hello?" her sweet voice on the other line. "Hey, I have a problem and I need your help," I say after a second. "Okay, do you need me to come over?" she asks. "I think so, I don't think I can handle it alone." I sigh. "Okay, I'll have Noah bring me over," she answers "Okay, I'll see you soon," I answer, I wait for her to hang up before I put my phone down. I head up to my parent's room and knock lightly on the door. "Hey what's up?" My mom asks as she opens the door. "Hey, can we talk for a second, away from?" I said tilting my head towards Kaylen's room. "Yeah, yeah," she answers opening the door fully so I can come in. RYLEE'S P.O.V. I was lying in bed with Melissa, she was passed out beside me but in surprise, I still couldn't fall asleep. My phone rang and woke her up as she rolled over and handed it to me, she made a teasingly looking face. "Hello?" I say questioning. "Hey, I have a problem and I need your help." his husky voice makes my breath hitch. "Okay, do you need me to come over?" I ask, hoping he'll say yes. "I think so, I don't think I can handle it alone," he answers, his voice sounding defeated. "Okay, I'll have Noah bring me over," I answer, happily. "Okay, I'll see you soon," he answers. I hang up the phone after a moment and call John. "Hey, I know I'm supposed to be here but if I stayed the night at a friend's house would it be so bad?" I ask. "As long as you are home by 5 a.m. it should be fine," he answers. "Okay, thank you," I say and hang up the phone. "Noah!" I yell loudly. "Yeah?" he asks popping his head through the door. "Can you drive me to Collins?" I ask. "Uh, why? It's like midnight." he laughs. "I think there's something wrong with Kaylen," I answer. "Kaylen?" he asks. "His sister, we got close while I was there and Collin said he needed help," I answer throwing shoes on. "Are you going to need a ride home?" he asks. "No, I'll just stay there or Collin can bring me home," I answer. "Okay, then let me get Dean I'll meet you downstairs," he answers. "Cool, thank you!" I say sweetly. "Of course." he smiles walking away. "So, Collin's huh?" Melissa laughed in her half sleepy voice. "Yeah," I answer walking towards the door. "I'm going to stay in here." she laughs. "I don't expect anything different." I laugh closing the door. "THANK YOU" she yells through the door. I laugh to myself as I walk to the bathroom to brush my teeth "Two minutes Rylee!" Noah yells as he walks past the door. "Okay!" I mumble yell while I brush faster. After a minute I finish and throw my hair up in a messy bun and run downstairs. "Ready?" Noah asks and I nod my head. We get in the car and drive to Collin's house. A few minutes later we pull into Collin's driveway. "Thank you, guys," I say while I text Collin. "Be safe" Dean says as Collin walks to the car. "Use protection!" Noah yells as Collin opens my door. Collin and I look at each other, I feel my face getting hot and I can see the red across his cheeks. "Call if you need us at all," Dean says smacking Noah. "Thanks again," I say glaring at Noah through the window. "Sorry about Noah," I said feeling embarrassed. "They just want you to be safe." He smirks. "Please tell me your problem wasn't...that..." I mumble. "No, no it's about Kaylen," he answers with a small laugh. "Oh okay, what's wrong?" I ask as we sit on the porch. "So, her friend Madilynn, she tried to f**k me tonight. Like I came out of the bathroom and she was on my bed, and then tried to crawl across it sexy like. I kicked her out of my room. I think it made Kaylen upset or something she did, did. But when I tried to talk to her about it, Madilynn stood on the steps and Kaylen looked scared to tell me what was going on." he explained, his voice was laced with worry even if he looked calm on the outside. I tensed at the thought of him f*****g someone else, he put his hand on my thigh while he continued talking. "Okay, I can handle b***h friend," I smirk. "No, I need you to talk to Kaylen and see what's going on," he answers, a part of me wants to slap her just for trying to get with Collin. "Okay, okay." I sigh standing up. "Where are you going?" he laughs subtly. "To talk to Kaylen?" I answer rolling my eyes, I start to walk away before he walks in front of me. "Hello darling." he smiles looking down at me. "What are you doing?" I laugh. "I never said a proper hello to you," he answers, a smirk playing at his lips. "You just want me to call you it don't you?" I laugh quietly, rolling my eyes. "Keep rolling your eyes at me, darling," he smirks. "Hello, puppy," I say rolling my eyes again, he pulls me closer to him. "Stop rolling your eyes like that darling" he whispers huskily in my ear. "Okay, let's go!" I say a little louder pushing him off, I can hear the little laugh he lets out and basically feel his eyes burning into me as I walk away. "Where is she?" I whisper. "Her room. My parents know you are here." he laughs. "Yeah, but she doesn't" I answer. "Good point." he chuckles as we walk up the steps. We get up the steps and I can just barely hear Madilynn and Kaylen talking through the door, Kaylen's voice seems to be quiet while Madilynn's voice is raised to talk over her.
