COLLIN'S P.O.V.
"So, where's Rylee tonight?" Carl asks, nudging me.
"She's at home," I answer rolling my eyes.
"Finally, have enough of you?" Rob laughs.
"Actually, I don't think so," I smirked.
"Did you finally get the courage to ask her out?" Carl asks excitedly.
"Yes." I sigh.
"Oh no, I'm sorry she said no dude," Rob says wrapping an arm around me.
"She said yes." I laugh.
"Why are we at the basketball court?" Carl asks as we get out of the car.
"I figured we could brush up on the game a bit." I chuckle.
"It's been almost a month, why now?" Rob asks confused. I take my shirt off exposing the marks on my skin from my time with Rylee.
"You just wanted to show off those marks huh?" Carl laughs.
"It's nice to show off what I have." I laugh.
"So, what about Luka?" Rob asks.
"What about him?" I scoff.
"Rylee and Luka have been friends for a while, you think all that s**t with Daisy last night is going to make her hate him forever?" Carl adds.
"I mean if she doesn't, she doesn't, I'm not going to control her. It's okay for her to have friends." I answer casually making a basket.
"A friend that is hopelessly in love with her?" Rob asks, raising a brow.
"She likes me, I have to hope that's enough," I answer.
"What if it isn't?" Carl asks.
"Then it isn't and we weren't meant to be, I just have to hope it is. When she said yes, I could barely contain my excitement honestly. Somehow, we both caught feelings through simple friendship things. I have never really been friends with a girl so it was weird at first but somehow, she made me feel comfortable in an uncomfortable position and I think that helped me a lot." I answer.
"What does that even mean?" Rob asks with a face full of confusion.
"It means that for a while, all I could think about was her body. Until I started to get to know her for who she actually is and for everything she has been through and believe me it was a lot. She wears her head so high for someone who should be drowning in a pool of their demons but she doesn't. She doesn't let anyone in unless she trusts them and she's very careful of who she trusts, she made it a point to hang out with Kaylen and Alex. She baked with my mom and watched football with my dad like she was one of the guys. All while fighting something that I don't think I could go through alone. She fought so hard for someone to see how much she was fighting to survive; I know I'm not the only one that noticed but I went out of my way to help her. Before she meant anything other than a friend to me. Being able to help her made me realize that I actually did like her, helping her pack to go home was the worst time I've ever had with her. It felt like I was losing a piece of myself even though I knew I wasn't. I would do anything I could to save her from pain or heartache." I explained in the easiest way I knew how without telling them what she has been through.
"You are so in love with her." Carl laughs.
"I know," I answer, nodding my head and laughing lightly.
In a way they don't understand what love feels like, they are a hit it and leave it type of man and I was too, I won't lie about that. My first real relationship was with Layla and I never felt this way about her, I never cared enough about her. It didn't hurt when she cheated on me, not even close to what it should have. When I found out Luka kissed Rylee I was pissed, but we weren't dating and she didn't cheat or do anything wrong. Apart of me felt a little broken over it, to think he got to hold her, to kiss her as he did and I was still moving my way out of the friendzone like that.
Rylee made me realize that love exists and even if we break up, or things go horribly wrong. I want to be able to say, 'Yeah, I knew her.' or 'Yeah, she was my first love.'.
I want to be able to look back on our time together and have happy memories of us, I want every memory to be happy even when they weren't. I want to be like her, to be able to find the light within the darkness, the brightness in an otherwise dark world. We may only be kids but somehow, I feel as if she is the one for me. The one I should love and hold, cherish and protect as long as I can before our time with each other is up. I want to be by her side as she achieves her goals in life, though that is a dream I want to keep dreaming with her forever.
"You act as if you guys will be together forever." Layla scoffs as she walks onto the court.
"I didn't know trash was allowed here." Rob laughs, Carl laughs as I try to hold back from laughing.
"Oh, f**k off you two-inch baby." Layla sneers rolling her eyes.
"So, you and Rylee finally did it huh? I guess it's true what Daisy said, she really is nothing but a whore." Layla continues, I grit my teeth holding in the anger.
"Rylee is my girlfriend," I answer sternly, trying not to show any emotion.
"Awe, that's so sweet. Is that why she's with Luka right now?" Layla smirks, probably feeling like she's top dog.
"That's fine, she can hang out with whoever she wants to." I answer. 'Calm, cool and collected Collin'
"Come on baby, just come f**k me. Get your mind away from the low-life whore." Layla says rounding me, running her hand along my chest.
"Get the f**k off of me, if anyone is a low-life w***e it would be you." I scoff pushing myself away from her.
"I f****d one guy while we were together," Layla says sweetly like that's supposed to make me feel better.
"One guy, 20 different times." I scoff.
"Hey, he said to get the f**k off of him." Carl stands between Layla and me as she walks closer.
"Listen you crazy b***h, he doesn't want anything to do with you or your family. So just get the f**k out of here." Rob says sternly.
"Fine, I'll just be expecting you once you see Rylee and Luka together, at her house. Hugging, alone, in the dark." Layla smirks pulling out her phone before I feel mine buzz in my pocket.
"She's allowed to have friends," Rob says sternly.
"Even friends who are madly in love with her?" Layla says with a pouty face, I stayed silent for a moment.
"That's what I thought. I made you Collin, all of your trust issues are because of me. I know how to push your buttons and right now you want to go to Rylee's and find out what the deal is. Do it, Collin, unleash your inner anger and finally break yourself free." Layla taunts.
"You didn't make anything Layla, you know I've said I love you to you countless times, but not a single time did I mean any of them. I know that now because I finally know how it feels to be in love, so you caught a random photo of Rylee and Luka, so what?" I yell pausing for a moment, when she doesn't answer I continue. "You expect me to go over there and yell and scream and start throwing hands? I'm not that person, not for you at least I wasn't. There are many reasons they were hugging, or talking alone. None of them would include Rylee cheating on me. Unlike you, she isn't a slut who will f**k any guy that gives her the slightest attention. Oh, and you can come out now Daisy. Go ahead and send that to Rylee, I know you are hiding behind the oak tree. As for you Layla, try all you want to, you'll never convince me Rylee is anything other than faithful to me. Now if you'll excuse me, I have some guy time to finish." I speak sternly, without yelling trying to keep a grip on the anger that was already past my breaking point. I shove past Layla as Daisy walks out from behind the Oaktree. Carl takes her phone, not sure what he's doing there. I pick up my shirt from the bench and walk to the car, Rob waits for Carl and then hops in.
"What the f**k was that about?" I ask Carl.
"I sent the video to Luka and Rylee," Carl smirks.
"You are an idiot." I laugh before pulling out and heading towards Rylee's.
"Where are you going?" Rob asks.
"To see my girlfriend." I sigh.
"Should we be getting ready to bury a body?" Carl asks, worry written on his face.
"No." I laugh, pausing for a moment, "Maybe..." I continue.
"I mean whatever we got to do is what we got to do, what about her dad?" Rob asks.
"Foster dad, don't call him her father." I correct him, Rob nods his head.
"He's at work, the graveyard shift," I answer.
RYLEE'S P.O.V.
I was sitting downstairs with everyone when Max came in, he stared at me for a moment before completely disregarding I exists, somehow, it's better that way. For me anyway, I don't have to worry about apologizing to him for hurting his feelings or whatever the problem that is between us anymore. I'm not really sure if there even is one, it's not like he was in love with me or something. Melissa, Noah, and Dean joined us shortly before Max got here and we've just been taking turns playing video games. I made sure I was sitting next to Dean so I could fill him in on the details of Collin and me while everyone else played.
"Wait that's seriously how he asked!?" Dean yelled loudly, almost everyone looked over and I laughed at his sudden outburst and nodded my head.
"How who asked what?" Jake asked intrigued.
"I'll tell you later," I answered.
"Don't be shy Ryles, tell us now. We are all listening." Jason said pausing the game with him and Max.
"Jay, continue your game." I scoff rolling my eyes.
"I'm pretty interested now too." Lucas laughed.
"Oh my god if I tell you will you just let me finish my conversation?!" I said loudly.
"Yes." They said in unison.
"Fine, Collin asked me to be his girlfriend with Candles and white roses spelling out girlfriend with a question mark." I sighed.
"Did you say yes?" Jake pried.
"Yes," I said lowly, the redness in my face quickly growing.
"Awe, Ryles has a boyfriend," Lucas said nudging me.
"Okay now go back to your game." I scoffed.
"What happened after you said yes Rylee," Jason asked, the grin on his face growing bigger.
"We just hung out," I answered, rolling my eyes.
"I think that hickey on your neck begs to differ." Jason pointed out.
"f**k off." I scoffed putting my hand on my neck, my face is ten times redder than when this started.
"At least two people in this room have f****d or almost f****d her. It's not special." Max scoffed.
"Well, that was rude," Jason said quickly before I had a chance to react.
"Dude it's fine. Just drop it." I shrugged it off.
"Nah that was out of line," Luka said quickly.
"I said drop it," I said sternly, everyone looked at me confused for a moment. The doorbell rang and I used it as an excuse to leave this room filled with tension.
"You okay?" Lucas asked following behind me.
"Yeah, I'm fine. It's really not a big deal." I said shrugging it off.
"Are you sure? Because that was a total d**k thing to say." Lucas continued.
"He's mad because the night we almost had s*x was the night of the car crash and I left him high and dry to come to make sure you were okay. We got into it pretty bad that night, it's really not a big deal so just drop it okay?" I explained, the annoyance written on my face pretty clear.
"Consider it dropped," Lucas said with his hands up.
I looked through the window and saw Collin, Carl, and Rob standing on the porch.
RYLEE'S P.O.V.
"Hey?" I said confused as I opened the door.
"Hey, darling," Collin smirked.
"What are you guys doing here?" I asked casually.
"I missed you." Collin smiled.
"I missed you too," I said pulling him inside.
"So, where is everyone?" Collin asked looking between Lucas and me.
"Downstairs, we were just hanging out. Playing video games." I answered.
"Oh, Carl, Rob, this is Lucas." I introduced them.
They said their hellos before Collin looked at me weird.
"Hey, can you guys give us just a second?" I asked them.
"Yeah, you guys want anything to drink?" Lucas asked as he walked them towards the kitchen.
"What's wrong puppy?" I asked confused.
"Layla showed up at the basketball court, telling me Luka was here and you guys were talking in the dark and hugging?" He explained.
"Yeah, he's here, we talked about things alone and agreed we would still be friends but wouldn't hang out alone," I answered.
"Why not alone?" Collin asked, respectfully.
"Because if he tried something I'd have to kick his ass and he's less likely to try something with other people around," I explained.
"That makes sense I guess." He answered.
"I don't have to be friends with him..." I said lowly fiddling with my hands.
"Princess look at me," he said pulling my chin up.
"I trust you completely. I know you would never cheat on me." he smiled, kissing me softly.
"Thank you." I smiled.
"Don't ever think you have to stop being friends with someone because of me." Collin insisted.
"I just don't really know what to say or how to act now..." I answered.
"You were in a lot of shitty relationships princess, but I'm not one of them. I like you for you and that includes your friends even if I hate them," he explained.
"Never change who you are." I smiled, kissing him.
"As long as you don't change who you are," he smirks.
"Well, as long as you are here. Do you want to hang out for a bit?" I asked.
"Let me make sure it's okay with the guys," he answers as we walk towards the kitchen that is filled with awkward silence.
"You guys' care if we stay for a bit?" Collin asks.
"That's fine, I enjoy hanging out with Rylee," Carl smirks.
"She's taken." Collin laughs wrapping his arm around me.
"Yeah, but she's like one of the guys now." Rob laughs.
"Yeah, I call Rylee in the breakup." Carl laughs, I shake my head trying to stifle a laugh.
"Alright, alright," Collin smirks.
"So, she's fine with Luka now," Collin says lowly to Carl and Rob.
"So, no body tonight?" Rob tries to whisper.
"No," I say sternly. They look at me concerned before Collin smacks Rob upside the head; I try so hard not to laugh but fail.
Lucas walks down the steps first while I take my time grabbing a drink, so hopefully, he'll tell Luka Collin's here, I hand Collin a drink and kiss him once more before heading downstairs. I can feel my anxiety rise as we walk down the steps because for some reason I see this ending badly.
"Hey, Collin." Jake smiles.
"Hey, Jake," Collin says lowly.
"We pulled up more chairs for you guys." Jason nods over to the chairs while he and Max continue to play.
"Do you care if I sit by Dean and Noah? We were talking." I ask lowly.
"No, go ahead princess." he smiles sitting down.
"Thanks, puppy." I smile, kissing him before walking back over to Dean.
"So pretty much yes we had s*x. Yes, it was amazing, yes it was big. No, we didn't try anal." I say lowly and scoff looking towards Noah.
"In my defense, she said it barely fit in both holes, okay?" Noah says louder than he should.
"If y'all are going to talk about s*x be quiet," Jake says loudly.
My face quickly turned red as Collin smirked at me, raised his brow.
"Wait I want to hear it again!" Melissa yells running over from the other couch.
"So, like how? Who initiated it? Was there choking? Did he eat you out? I have so many questions." Dean whispered.
"I did, kind of?" I say lowly, glancing over at Collin who has his eyes fixated on me.
"Kind of?" Dean asked.
"It's hard to explain," I answer.
"Collin," Dean says loudly.
"Yeah?" he asks lowly.
"Who started it?" Dean asks.
"She did." Collin laughs.
"Thanks." Dean laughs before turning back to me, I slap him softly as I can feel Luka's eyes on me.
"No choking and yes to the last question." I continue.
"Was it good?" Dean asked.
"She said he was like a wizard." Noah laughed.
"Oh, f**k off. You've made comments like that about him." I laugh.
"Oh, I know." Noah laughs, kissing Dean over me.
"And I'm done." I laugh pushing myself off the couch from between him.
"Me too," Melissa says walking away.
"Fine, we won't do it again." Noah rolls his eyes.
"Do it all you want, just not when I'm in the middle." I laugh, sitting on Collin's lap.
"Alright Rylee, you against Luka." Jason laughs handing me the controller, Max basically tosses it to Luka. I roll my eyes before repositioning myself in Collin's lap.
"Wait who has the popcorn?" Noah yells.
"Oh, shut up." Melissa scoffs hitting him.
"What? Every time Rylee and Luka are up against each other it turns into an all-out war. If I'm going to watch I want popcorn." Noah continues, I laugh slightly rolling my eyes.
"You know it's true!" Noah yells.
"Just let them play." Jake laughs.
"You mean let Luka kick her ass?" Jason adds, trying to get a rise out of me.
"Rylee wins every time." Melissa counters.
"Just shut up." I groan.
Luka and I look at each other for a brief moment before starting. He nods his head indicating it's on, I'll be damned if I will let him break my winning streak.
COLLIN'S P.O.V.
I watched as Rylee and Luka played, somehow, she was kicking his ass and I couldn't understand it. She became so competitive over a game like it was her whole life and somehow continued to beat him after he tried so hard. That little nod they gave each other in the beginning was confusing but now I think I understand, whether it was him going easy on her or their competitiveness against each other Rylee's full focus was on this game.
"Oh, f**k you!" Luka yelled loudly once Rylee won.
"You'll never beat me, Luka." She laughs.
"I want a rematch." he scoffs.
"Eventually," she smirks.
"I told you" Melissa smirks, holding out her hand.
"Fine, never bet on Luka in these situations." Jason laughs handing her a $20.
"Hey, you ever get that message from Daisy?" Carl asks Rylee.
"What message?" she asks confused.
"I don't even know where my phone is." she laughs.
"You mean this phone?" Lucas asks holding up her phone.
"Yeah," she said happily as Lucas handed her the phone.
"Why did you have it?" Rob asks.
"Typically for nights like these we all put our phone on the table, I'm guessing when Rylee got up it slid down onto the couch because she had it in her lap. When I came back down Noah had moved closer to Dean so I took the spot he was in." Lucas answered.
"Seems weird." Rob laughs.
"We do a friend's and family night a couple of times a month, not that it was supposed to be one but Jason invited Max and Luka is here because Lucas is here. So, we all just hung out." Rylee defends.
"Not that I'd like to be here." Max mumbles.
"Shut up." Jason pushes him.
"I'm only here because of you. I could be off f*****g Carol." Max scoffs.
"Carol is your fling, to get over Rylee, right?" Luka asks, raising his brow.
"Well, at least my fling to get over Rylee isn't pregnant," Max says annoyed.
I can feel Rylee tense and her breathing become unsteady, I put my hand on her thigh to hopefully calm her with physical touch.
"Technically I don't know if Daisy is." Luka laughs.
"I think that's your problem," Max says sternly.
"What's my problem?" Luka asks shrugging his shoulders.
"You think if Daisy isn't Rylee will come crawling back to you," Max says tauntingly.
"I don't think that." Luka laughs.
"Oh, I think you do, I think when you kissed Rylee you thought she would realize she is in love with you." Max taunts and I can't tell who's getting more agitated, me, Rylee, Luka, and Lucas.
"Rylee is with Collin, and I respect that." Luka shrugged.
"Do you though? Like you respected Rylee when she and I almost-" Max starts, quickly being cut off.
"Dude enough, she left that night because Lucas was hurt in the hospital and Luka was her best friend. You got all butthurt because she chose him over you and put him first, she went for Luka." Jason interjected, cutting Max off and attempting to put him in his place.
"Yeah, the night after she f****d Lucas for a bet," Max added, smirking as if he just won something.
"You think I haven't come to terms with that?" Rylee asks calmly.
"I just think it's funny." Max answers.
"Remember when I saw you and Carol kissing at the school? You made a big deal out of it hoping I would be hurt over it, but I wasn't. I just didn't care. I don't care, I told you to live your life not come over and try to ruin mine, which you won't by the way. Collin helped me through all the pain and all the bullshit everyone put me through. He knows more about you than Jason does." Rylee explains, holding her head high once more when I can feel her wanting to break.
"So, you went and f****d him for three weeks, came back kissed Luka, fought Daisy, and still find your way back into his bedroom huh?" Max laughs, it's taking all I have not to push her off of me and kick his ass; Rob and Carl are visibly tense at the comments he makes about her.
"No, we hung out as friends and I fell for him. I mean you basically confessed your love for me just three days of knowing me without knowing the full story of what I've been through. Collin knows the full story, has seen me at my worse and still somehow fell for me, treats me as if I'm the best thing that has ever happened to him. You, on the other hand, you were nice, respectable, went along with my s**t without a second thought, pretended to be my boyfriend knocked Jay on his ass, and for what? Because you thought you were in love with me? Or were you just another person trying to ruin me?" Rylee says more irritated.
"There was nothing left of you to ruin, Lucas already did that, or the countless other guys you've slept with." Max laughs.
"Three," Rylee states clearly.
"What?" Max asks confused.
"Three other guys, four including Lucas and five after tonight with Collin. What you don't realize is that two of those three guys took it. I didn't offer or tease, I was a child. The one other person I did it with pressured me into it, better to give in than getting hurt right?" Rylee says confidently.
"I gave it up willingly, twice. Lucas and Collin. Neither was a mistake, even with the bet. However, you don't get to sit there and judge me because I wouldn't f**k you. That's not my problem, that's a you problem." She continues.
"I'm sure you've given it up willing to every guy." Max laughs.
"You just hated how they talked about you afterward so you changed your story." Max continues.
"No, I definitely didn't permit my uncle or my other uncle," Rylee says lowly, I can tell she's trying so hard not to break and I'm trying so hard not to break him.
"You probably did, you're nothing but a whore." Max says, before I even have time to react Luka's hand is around his throat, Lucas right behind Luka, Rob and Carl are two feet away from him, Jason and Jake are in his face.
"Luka enough," Rylee says sternly.
"Go ahead, do it." Max taunts.
"Luka," Rylee says sternly once more. Luka glances over towards her but doesn't move.
"NOW!" She yells loudly, Luka takes a second and looks over at her once more before dropping his hand.
"I think it's time for you to go," Jason says with his fists clenched.
"Come on Jay, it's not like you haven't had a piece of that." Max laughs, when no one moves he shrugs.
"I mean everyone has." Max chuckles. Lucas punches him square in the jaw before anyone has a chance to react.
"f*****g Christ Lucas!" Rylee yells loudly standing up.
"Well, I couldn't hit Luka when he called you it." Lucas laughs.
Max swings on Lucas, connecting with his jaw. Rylee takes a step closer but stops. She watches as Luka hits Max and Max hits him back; she grabs Rob and Carl by their arms pulling them back towards me and pushing herself forwards. I couldn't tell if she didn't want them in the middle of it or if she needed them to help push her forwards.
RYLEE'S P.O.V.
What was supposed to be a fun game night turned into a fight, of course, it did. Not between the two people I would have thought though. Instead, I watch as Luka and Max go at it and Jake and Jason try to pull them apart. Pulling Carl and Rob out of it so that they aren't in the middle of a child's fight while pushing myself forward towards them.
"ENOUGH," Jake yells.
"ENOUGH," Jason yells.
My head is swirling, if I jump in the middle there's a chance I'll get hit. Luka has already been punched twice today and one of those times was by a grown man. Lucas sits on the ground as Noah and Dean hold him back, I can see him trying to get out to help Luka but for this to stop it has to be me, Luka won't throw another punch as long as I'm in the middle. Jason can get a grip on Maxwell hopefully before I get hit, it's a risk I have to be willing to take.
"OH, MY f*****g GOD ENOUGH!" I yell loudly pushing myself between them, the possibility of actually getting punched was far more than I expected as Max grazed my face, enough for it to hurt but not his full force. I can feel the pain but it doesn't feel like a real pain, more like pain a dream would cause. Something that feels real but is completely fake.
"f**k Rylee," Collin yells as he pushes his way towards me.
I stand there for a moment in complete shock at what just happened, Collin checks my face as Luka stops trying to fight Max though I can tell he wants him dead now.
"I'm fine," I say sternly and turn towards Max.
"Get the f**k out," I say clenching my fist.
"I didn't mean to hit you," Max says apologetically.
"Yeah, well you f*****g did." I scoff, pushing him back.
"Get out," I say sternly once more.
"Whatever." he scoffs and walks towards the door, Jason following behind him.
"Are you guys' okay?" I ask Luka and Lucas, they nod.
"Good." I sigh, before walking to them and giving them each a slap upside the head.
"Stop being so f*****g stupid," I yell walking towards the steps.
"Where is she going?" Noah asks as I walk up the steps.
"I got it." Collin answers and I can feel his footsteps behind me.
"Princess, are you okay?" Collin asks wrapping his arms around me.
"I'm fine I just need a minute puppy." I sigh.
"If you need me just yell, okay?" he asks, I nod my head in response. He kisses me on the cheek and walks away.
