Luka.

I hear muffled shhs, and be quiet as I get closer to the bottom of the steps. Melissa's face is bright red as the guys refuse to look me in the eyes. My bag is open just a little, enough for me to know it was gone through. f**k. "What's going on?" I ask playing dumb. "Nothing just waiting for you, bestie." Melissa smiles attaching herself to my side. "Okay?" I ask confused. "You look cute by the way, getting dressed up?" she asks. "It's just a normal dress." I laugh. "Do I need to go change?" I ask raising a brow. "Nope let's go," Noah stated and we head for the door. Text: Puppy. 'They went through my sketches.' 'Oh, do they know it's me?' 'I don't know.' 'Are you okay?' 'Feeling a little exposed.' 'You look amazing though.' I look up from my phone to see him standing there, nice jeans and a stupid shirt I said I liked when he left me to wear it to sleep in a few times. 'You look very handsome in that shirt.' 'Come see me soon?' 'Of course, puppy.' 'Till then darling.' I put my phone away in the dress's pockets, as everyone looks at me. "What?" I ask confused. "Nothing." they shake their heads before walking towards the gate, I take this moment to look over at Collin who is surrounded by his friends, but he sits there holding a full conversation with them without taking his eyes off me. I smile at him, he smirks at me, I stare for a moment longer. "Rylee!" Melissa yells at me. "Coming!" I yell back as I tear myself away from him. I look back at him as I watch away, he's still looking but now his friends see it too. They push him a little laughing but he continues to look at me. COLLIN'S P.O.V. She texts me about the game tonight, I wasn't planning on going but now I know she is so I text my friends and they agree, anything that involves them leaving their girlfriends or their houses for a few hours they'll do. I get dressed, putting on jeans that were brand new. I go to my dresser and pull out and random shirt, I look at the one underneath that. The one she told me she liked, I debated on taking it with and somehow slipping it to her, but I put it on instead. I'm the only guy who has a shirt with skulls on it with flowers and plants growing out of it. Everyone would know and while I don't mind it, she does. She told me it was her favorite out of all my shirts, somehow it became my favorite too. I look at myself in the mirror. What is she doing to me? I fix my hair; brush my teeth and head downstairs. "Date with Rylee?" my mom asks. "Football game with friends," I answer. "Is she going to be there?" she asks. "Maybe." I roll my eyes. "Well, you fixed your hair five times since you've come downstairs." she laughs. "I have not!" I say running my hand through my hair again. She looks at me with a smile trying not to laugh as my father is laughing so hard, he's crying. "I'm leaving," I say quickly. "Call me if you are going to be late!" she yells as I walk out the door. I stop by my friends picking them up and head to the game they tease me about the girl that's been staying at my house, asking stupid guy questions I couldn't even answer. "At least tell us who she is?" Carl asks. "I can't, I made a promise." I laugh as we get out of the truck and tailgate in the parking lot. "You can't tell us if she's good in bed, you can't tell us what you guys did together, you can tell us who she is? What can you tell us?" Rob groans. "I can't tell you if she's good in bed because we didn't do anything like that, we sat and played video games, listened to music together, and just hung out. Like friends." I laugh. My phone dings in my pocket as they continue to talk back and forth about her, I ignore everything they say as I read her text and respond. Text: Darling. 'They went through my sketches.' 'Oh, do they know it's me?' 'I don't know.' 'Are you okay?' 'Feeling a little exposed.' The guys start talking about her, as she walks across the parking lot. She's been gone for three weeks and of course, the rumors started, they laughed about the rumors even though I've shut them down. I look at them to see them staring at her, I laugh. "Close your mouths idiots." I laugh as they look at me confused and pointing to her. I admire her for a moment before texting her back. 'You look amazing though.' She looks up at me and smiles, her face a shade darker of red than it was before. Is she blushing over me? I feel like I'm in middle school. I have game, I know I do. I've been with plenty of girls so why does she make me feel so weak? 'You look very handsome in that shirt.' 'Come see me soon?' 'Of course, puppy.' 'Till then darling.' I watch her a few moments longer everyone walks away and she looks at me, she smiles at me and I smirk back at her. That dress exposes more than those sketches ever will, I watch as my friends drool over her talking about how hot she is, a hint of jealously spikes through me. "Shut the f**k up." I grit my teeth as I still watch her, she's still looking at me. "What why?" Carl asks confused, they look down at me and I can feel their eyes travel back to her with mine. "OH MY GOD, IT WAS RYLEE!" Carl yells loudly pushing me into Rob as they jostle me back and forth, a few of the other guys behind me hoot and holler. I ignore them for a moment. "RYLEE!" Melissa yells from the ticket stand. "Coming!" She yells back, her voice loud but somehow still soft. I watch her as she walks away, she turns to look at me, I'm still watching darling don't worry. I smile as she heads inside. "You guys are f*****g idiots" I laugh pushing them back. "You f*****g like her!" Rob says loudly. "Keep your voice down, no one is supposed to know i***t. Especially not her." I say covering his mouth. "You didn't tell her?" Rob asks, I shake my head. "And you guys didn't sleep together the first chance you had?" Carl asks, I shake my head again. "Dude, our boys in love," Carl says tapping me on the chest. I just smile and shake my head as I can feel my face turn red. "She makes me feel like a middle schooler who's too scared." I scoff. "You got it bad." Rob sighs. "On the Brightside. You got your boys tonight." Carl says pounding against my chest. "No, if she wants to tell her family where she was for three weeks she will on her own terms," I say sternly. "They don't know?" Carl asks, I shake my head sipping on a bottle of water. "And they aren't going to. Got it?" I ask almost a demand. "Yeah dude, I just can't believe you are in love, from player and heartbreaker to taken in three weeks" rob fake sobs. "We aren't dating." I laugh at his idiocy. "Well in that case..." Kyle says jumping down off the truck beside me. "Touch her and I'll kill you," I say gripping him by his shirt. "Damn dude okay," Kyle says backing off. "That was harsh," Carl whispers in my ear. "Love makes you crazy," I smirk watching her through the gate. RYLEE'S P.O.V. I Watched him through the gate as we walked around the football field a couple times, after a few minutes he finally comes in. He gives me a small smile and Melissa nudges me towards him. "You like him." Melissa teases. "I do not" I scoff. "You do too" She rolls her eyes in annoyance. "Luka hey!" Melissa calls over to him and Lucas for a moment Luka looked like he was going to walk the other way but Lucas pulls him towards me. "Hey, Rylee long time no see." Lucas smiles pulling me in for a hug. "Hey, Lucas. Sorry I bailed out like that. I know we had plans the next day," I smile hugging him back. "It's okay, I understand," he answers. "Luka?" I ask as looks everywhere but at me. "Yeah?" he asks. "What are you doing?" I laugh. "Looking for Daisy." he smiles. "Daisy doesn't want you and Luka being friends anymore," Lucas explains, as Luka hits him. "That's okay, if that's what she wants I think you should respect that," I answer with a smile. "I don't want to stop being friends with you Rylee..." Luka says lowly. "You can't have the best of both worlds Luka, go see how things turn out with her. I'll still be your best friend if things go wrong." I answer, with a smile plastered on my face. I didn't want Luka to leave me, I wanted to beg him to stay but I can't. I left him for three weeks I can't just change that. "Rylee," Luka says sternly. "It's fine Luka, really." I smile looking past them at Collin. "I'll catch up with you later Lucas, Luka, take care of her. I'm always a call away, okay?" I smile and walk towards Collin. MELISSA'S P.O.V. "I'm sorry I know that was something but I need to test a theory so give me a minute and I'll be back. Jake, Luka isn't allowed to be friends with Rylee anymore, deal with it." I say pulling him aside as I walk up to Rylee right as she gets to Collin. "Hey." he smiles at her, giving her a confused look. She sits above him and fluffs up his hair, with a smirk across her face as I watch. "Hey, puppy," she smirks. "Geez stop that would you." he laughs. "Puppy?" his friends laugh. That was confirmation enough for me, I walked back to everyone else quickly walking past Jake. "I need this for a second," I say pulling Jake with me as I walk by. "She was with Collin!" I say quickly. "How do you know?" Jake asks. "The sketches, in the speech bubble she called the guy puppy," I say raising a brow. "Yeah? Don't remind me." Jake says covering his face. "She just called Collin puppy," I say quickly. "Rylee's dating Collin?" Luka asks. "No, not dating him," I say quickly. "Then what are they?" Luka asks. "I don't know. Honestly, I don't and I'm not going to make some assumptions based on stuff we found in her sketchbook." I answer. "You are with Daisy Luka." Lucas reminds him. "I know, I just don't know if she's the one I should be with." he turns to look at Rylee who is laughing with Collin and his friends as she sits above him, running her hands through his hair. "I don't know either, but Luka, Rylee wanted you to move on. Remember that please." I pleaded. "I do, but maybe that's not what I wanted, maybe I wasn't ready to give up on the idea I had of us." he scoffs. "Now is not the time or the place brother," Lucas grabs Luka's arm dragging him back as he goes to walk towards her. "Hey, baby." Daisy comes over, smiling and completely oblivious to what's happening. "Hey," he answers biting his inner cheek. "Everything okay?" she asks. "Mhm," he replies looking at Rylee once more. "Why do you keep looking over there?" Daisy asked, when she looked, she saw Rylee. I could practically see the anger radiating off of her as she went to stomp towards Rylee and Collin. "Hey, what the f**k do you think you are doing?" I asked stepping in front of her. "I'm going to kick her ass." she scoffed. "Think twice about your next move," I said lowly "What are you going to do b***h?" she scoffed pushing me back. RYLEE'S P.O.V. I was laughing with Collin's friends as they teased him about being called puppy but the moment, they were no longer paying attention, Collin looked up at me with a devilish grin on his face. "I warned you what would happen, Darling," he smirked. I could feel my face get heated but my body wouldn't move. He went back to his conversation with the guys and they did their best to include me in it, I sat playing with his hair for a while with my legs draped over his shoulders as I laugh about all the stupid stories the guys told me, all the stupid inside jokes as they explained them. "Enough!" I heard Luka yell, I looked up and saw Daisy and Melissa at a standoff. "Fuck." I said unwrapping my legs and running towards them, my boots off by the time I got to bleachers, barefoot running towards Melissa. "Hey, what's going on?" I ask pulling Melissa back. "She needs to learn her place." Melissa scoffs. "Daisy, what's the problem?" I ask walking closer to her. "Stay the f**k away from Luka." she sneers in my face. "I wasn't even near him." I laugh out of habit. Collin and his friends join me, I can feel the anger rising in Collin. "You are such a slut. Wearing a tight-fitting dress to make him want you, you disappeared for three weeks. With no phone call, no text message, nothing, and then you show up today out of the blue and just think you can have him back?" She scoffs. "Is she for real?" I ask Luka, he puts his head down. "Oh, you've got to be f*****g kidding me." I laugh. "Luka, I said I would always be your best friend, that doesn't mean I'll sit here and let your girlfriend talk to me like this." I roll my eyes, laughing slightly. "I don't want Luka, Daisy. I made that pretty f*****g clear." I laugh. "When, when did you make that clear? Seems to me you went from f*****g one brother to the next." she laughs. I feel Collin tense behind me, I don't need this to be a whole rumble. I turn putting my hand on his chest and he keeps eye contact with Luka. "Puppy look at me," I say in a low tone so no one else can hear me. He glances down as his breathing goes from a rapid to slowly steading. "I'm okay, I promise." I smile, swiping away the hair that has fallen on his face. "Oh what, you can't have Luka so now you are f*****g Collin?" she laughs. "Which is it, Daisy? I'm getting a little confused here. Did I f**k Lucas and then Luka, and now Collin? Or did I f**k Lucas and then Collin because I couldn't have Luka?" I laugh, getting closer to her. "Watch yourself, little girl." she sneers. "I'm not doing this with you. Luka, I'm done." I say throwing my hands up. "Done with what?" Daisy scoffs. "Our friendship. I'll give whatever I have of yours to Lucas's tomorrow and I really don't want to hear from you." I say looking into Luka's eyes, they look sad and broken. "She doesn't love you Luka, not even as a friend." Daisy laughs. "Oh, f**k off Daisy." Melissa scoffs. "Funny you have a lot to say but Rylee is quiet," Daisy smirks. God, I wish I could wipe the smirk off of her f*****g face. "Rylee is being respectful to Luka." Melissa laughs. "She's just a little b***h who is all talk, she won't do shit." Daisy laughs. I stand there completely silent as Luka looks at me while Daisy and Melissa fight back and forth for a while. Collin has his eyes set on Luka and I don't even need to look up to know that, he tenses as she calls me a slut and a w***e. I continue to ignore it, what's the point in all of this. I told Luka to be with her, why can't she just accept that. "At least I have a mom and a dad." she scoffs. "I'm going to rip your f*****g head off," Melissa yelled walking towards her. "Calm down, I'm fine." I stop her. "Why won't you just f*****g hit me?" she whined. "Because I don't care enough to. You want Luka? Take him. I don't need a friend who doesn't stick up for me." I answer. "You could have saved yourself from all of this if you would have just said that from the beginning." Daisy laughs. "I did say that, I told Luka it was fine. He's the one who--, Never mind." I answer, stopping myself because I just don't care anymore; I feel numb again. "Luka, it's been fun; But I'm just done." I step back toward Collin, whose breath is still rapid. "Seriously? Just like that?" he scoffs. "Okay, dude enough," Lucas says pulling him back. "No, I was f*****g worried about you. For three f*****g weeks I worried, constantly checking in with Noah to see if he had heard from you, and surprise, surprise, no one ever did. I waited outside today, I knew you were coming home and I watched you climb out of his truck, I figured you guys were together, and then Melissa confirmed it with sketches and the word puppy whatever the f**k that means. Best friends keep each other in the loop, you left me without a second thought Rylee!" he yells. "Okay," I answer, his words hurt honestly. After seven years of being friends he really doesn't know me at all, I thought about it before deciding neither of us could take the heartbreak and I left. I did what I needed to for me and if he doesn't understand how much it hurt me to walk away from him as I did, then he doesn't know who I am. More importantly, I don't recognize who he is anymore. "f**k you, slut!" Daisy yells slapping me in the face, I turn my head and take a breath as Collin struggles to catch his. "Hey puppy, I'm fine." I smile looking up at him, his jaw clenched tightly. "Let's get out of here." I smile and he nods, I turn to walk away but stop in my tracks. "That's it? Too much of a coward to fight back?" she laughs. "That's it," Melissa says, I quickly grab her by her arm. "Let's go," I say sternly. "Yeah, leave. Your parents didn't die by accident, they killed themselves so they didn't have to be around you." she laughs, I turn around and walk back towards her, I keep my calm as best as I can anyway. I grab her by the chin harshly making her eyes meet mine. "Do not disrespect my parents," I say lowly, bringing my mouth to her ear. "Or they will never be able to find your f*****g body," I whisper in her ear, ripping my hand off of her and walking back to Collin, I look over my shoulder as Noah, Jake and Jason follow behind us as well as Collins friends. "What did you say to her?" Collin asks. "I told her the truth." I sigh. "The truth?" he gives me a questionable look. "It's not important puppy." I smile up at him. "Are you okay darling?" he asks, lifting me up on the tailgate of his truck. "I'm fine puppy." I smile. "Stop that," he mumbles. "You're cute when you're flustered," I smirk. "You're cute all the time." he smiles. I scrunch my face up in response. "You look fine, are you sure it doesn't hurt?" he asks. "I've been through worse puppy." I smile. "Okay, as long as you are okay." he smiles. "I'm ready to go home guys." I smile at them. "Do you want me to come over?" Collin asks lifting me off the truck. "You should get some rest; I'll be over for dinner tomorrow." I smile at him. "Okay darling, whatever you need," he says hugging me tightly. "Thanks, puppy." I smile as he kisses the top of my head. LUKA'S P.O.V. As everyone walks away Daisy stands there, completely dumbfounded at whatever Rylee had whispered in her ear. "You okay?" Lucas asks, bringing a hand to my back pulling me out of the confusing trance I stood in. "No." I scoff. "Do you need me?" he asks. "Go check on her," I say as I watch her through the gate with him. "You sure?" he asks. "I need to know she's okay," I answer, Lucas nods and walks off. "What the f**k is wrong with you?" I say to Daisy as she slowly turns around. "She told me she was going to kill me," she says with tears in her eyes. "Good, I would expect nothing less after you disrespected her parents." I scoff. "I'm sorry baby, I'm just tired of competing with her for you," she says lowly looking down. "I think we need some space," I say lowly, her head shooting up to meet my gaze. "What why?" she cries. "You just slapped her, for no reason at all Daisy. You started something that wasn't even about her. It's me Daisy. I told her you didn't want us to be friends and she told me it was fine; I was the one who tried to fight it. I couldn't keep my eyes off of her, even though she---" I explain and stop myself. "You can't unlove someone Daisy. It takes time and I didn't give myself time." I continue. "I'm sorry, I'll apologize to her tomorrow just don't leave me Luka." she cries. "It's just a break Daisy," I explain. "Luka, I love you." she sighs. "What?" I look at her confused. "And I'm pregnant." she continues, the tears flowing seamlessly down her face. Fuck me.
