"I've been what!?" Micah was shocked. She halfway hoped Alex was joking with her.
"Do you see these in my hand? That's one," she held up one card, then the other, "and two!"
Ok, definitely not joking.
"But why?"
"Well apparently," she grabbed her arm to pull her closer so that no one could hear. Especially not her boss, who she could now see standing at Russell's table talking to him and his friends. "Even though one of our patrons said he sees you have no headband, he asked if you're available for carding, and you said "sure"…?"
What the hell was Alex talking about? "Which patron?"
"That tall drink of water over there!" Alex said, annoyed.
Micah looked to see her Knicks player who had the Manhattan in the Martini glass. She vaguely remembered him talking to her. She didn't even know what he said when she replied back…
Double damn!
"How are you annoyed with me right now when you never even explained the whole card thing to me in the first place?" whisper shouted Micah, as she looked around to make sure no one was listening. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Rob laughing at them, shaking his head as he dried another glass.
"Why would you agree to something you don't understand!?" Alex stomped her foot as she spoke. Her sharp heels dug into the carpet.
"Ok… so I've got two cards. What do I do now?" Micah thought it best to stop focusing on the problems and figure out the solutions.
"You're gonna have to go to both rooms…"
"I'm going to do what!?" Micah said in disbelief. "What does that even mean?"
"All that guy wants is a lap dance, nothing else. You need to pull out your inner exotic dancer and get to grinding," said Alex. "Ten minutes tops. After that you get your time with Russell."
"What!? Uh uh, Alex. Can't we just tell him it was a mistake?"
"And have him complain to my boss about false promises by a waitress? The same waitress I brought here? I'll lose my employee of the month status for month two. I'm already in the running for the Assistant Manager position opening up in six months. Please…?" Alex's hands were in prayer position. "I'm begging you! 10 minutes…"
Micah rolled her eyes. A lap dance?
As far as Micah was concerned, she had two left feet. How was she gonna pull off a lap dance? Especially with this very tight outfit, that barely allowed her to walk let alone dance.
"I'm doing this in my waitress outfit…?" She wiggled her knees to show how little room she had to move. The skirt was so tightly wrapped around her thighs it felt like her legs were tied together.
"Um… no. I have an outfit for you." Alex grinned sheepishly. Why was Micah suspicious about this outfit?
"Go to the back where we did your make up. The outfit is on a hanger there."
"Ok," she said. Somehow Rob came into view from behind the bar and he was still laughing. Even though she was sure he didn't hear, he probably observed enough to fill in some blanks. This definitely was not a dull night for him. She rolled her eyes to let him know she had a challenge on her hands. He put his thumbs up to let her know he was rooting for her.
"A Beyonce outfit!?" Micah said once Alex finally came to the room. She held up the red sequined bustier bathing suit thingy that resembled something Beyonce would wear on stage.
"He has a Destiny's Child lap dance fantasy," said Alex. She quickly closed the door behind her. He's requesting the "Cater to You" song and everything," she said, clicking on the old youtube video.
"How old is this man anyway?" Micah watched as the three women seductively danced around each man who was sitting in chairs on a concert stage.
"Doesn't matter. He's already in the room waiting. Let's hurry up and get this over with," The outfit was tight and required a lot of pulling to get it on.
"Can't you go in there with a mask on or something? Would he really know the difference? You know I can't dance. A patron complaining about a badly done lap dance is worse than saying it was a mistake!"
"No, it's not worse," said Alex. "No excuses, just work it. Do your best… for 10 minutes. The music will go off when the time is up. You can touch him, but He is not supposed to touch you unless you invite him to. He knows the rules. If he breaks the rule, end the dance and leave immediately. You're safe. We keep security outside each room. There's a two way mirror and cameras in each room. Got it?"
"Got it," she said, trying to mimic the Destiny's Child dance moves in the video. She felt like a robot. Alex snickered.
Micah looked at herself in the mirror. Her legs were completely exposed like she was at the beach. The tight outfit boosted her breast up to accentuate the cleavage and squeezed her abdominal area so tight she didn't know how she was still breathing. The matching red three inch heels added even more to an already difficult challenge.
"Alright, it's showtime!" Alex grabbed her arm and led her to the hallway that she saw the other patrons and waitresses go to earlier. Each room had a guy standing next to it, as Alex said. She felt a bit naked passing by them dressed as she was.
"Room three," Alex opened the door, pushed her in, gave a thumbs up, and shut it behind her.
The room was dim but spacious. There was very little furniture in it except for a black leather couch, where the guy was sitting, which was opposite the door that she had entered through. She couldn't tell where the camera was but the floor to ceiling two way mirror was on the left. Whoever was watching could definitely see everything going on in the room.
Ok… you got this.
Micah positioned herself as she waited for the music to start. The guy was in such dim light she couldn't even tell if he was looking at her or not.
"Come… closer," he said. He definitely was watching. His sultry voice would have been enticing under different circumstances. It made her more nervous. He raised his hand and motioned for her to step forward. She was at least ten feet away from him. She closed the gap halfway.
Then the music began.
Micah turned her back to the guy and then turned her head and looked at him over her shoulder seductively with a wink. She then ran her hands down her thighs as she swayed her hips to the beat. Turning around she took a couple more steps towards him, leaned over and rubbed her hands along his thighs. She could see the whites of his teeth in the dark as he chuckled. So far so good.
She stood in between his legs with her back facing him, using his thighs for balance she bent forward so that her behind was in his face. She swayed from side to side making her way down to a squatting position and then she threw her head back to look at him. She blew a kiss and stepped away before he could think to reach for her.
She stood in front of him. She could see his dark eyes shining in the dim light, as she ran her hands up and down her body; her neck, breasts, stomach, hips, thighs and back up again as she swayed to the beat.
It was a movement of back and forth; she moved towards him and moved away in sultry motion. Touching him more each time. Pressing herself harder against him each time. And as the extended version of the song came to a close She could hear his breath hitch. Her final move was to sit on his lap, but as she made the move to sit her pointy three inch heel got caught and she clumsily fell back, falling on top of him.
"Ow!" She yelled. The back of her head hit what she thought was his chin. She heard him groan in reply. That's when she realized… her hand landed in the wrong place. She felt the bulge in his crotch come to a high point.
"Oh!" she said. "I'm… I'm so sorry!" She scrambled to get up and run out.
"It's ok," he yelled as she made her way to the door. "Come back!" But it was too late. She slammed the door shut as she made her way back to the dressing room as fast as her three inch red sequined pumps could carry her. She ignored the comments from the security guards in the hallway. She didn't stop until she found the room, catching her breath as she leaned on the door.
"Micah!" Alex's voice called from the other side of the door with a tap.
"Yeah?"
"Can you let me in?" Micah unlocked the door and made her way to one of the make up chairs. She couldn't believe what she just did….
"Micah …?" Alex came over to the chair. "Are you ok?"
"Don't ever ask me to do that again."
"What!? But you did so well!?"
"Are you kidding me? I think I have a concussion from hitting my head into his. Are we fired now?"
"Fired?... What? Quite the opposite. The customer loved you and wanted an encore performance."
"Aww hell no!"
"My boss thanked me and asked if you were available to cover next week? The girl who's out has night college classes."
"Double hell no…."
"But you did so well."
"Please get this red monstrosity off of me." Alex began to unzip the back of the dress.
"You know there's still room number two. Russell's waiting for you." Micah gave her a pointed look. "He doesn't think you're coming to dance." She let out a sigh of relief. "He thinks a former Howards stripper is coming…" Micah's eyes widened. "To talk, not to strip," she explained.
"Ok," Micah quickly pulled back on the black waitress uniform once she was out of the red dance outfit. "Room two, right?"
"Good luck," Alex replied with a nod. She grabbed her phone and made her way down the hall.
When she got to room two she took a deep breath. It was now or never. She put her hand on the door handle and pushed.
"Mr. Russell?" Inside this room the light was bright enough to see his face. He sat at a table similar to the ones in the dining area. He sipped a dark red drink.
"You're not Candy," he said with a grin.
"No, I'm not," Micah put out her hand to shake his before taking the seat across the table from him. She placed her phone on the table. The recorder was already running.
"I don't know if I should be pleasantly surprised or disappointed," he chuckled. He seemed to be in a good mood. But with what she had in mind he might not be for long.
"How about being willingly compliant?" she joked.
"Well, that depends…" his eyes drifted downward, but then raised back up again. "What can I do for you, Ursula?"
"Well, I dont know if I should be pleasantly surprised that you know my name. But, I'd like to start off the conversation on an honest foot. My name's Micah, not Ursula."
"Well, ok Micah," he shrugged his shoulders as if the name change was of no importance to him. But she knew eventually it would be.
She cleared her throat…"and, I represent the Daily Times paper here in Central City." She blurted that part out real fast, concerned about his reaction. Think he'd be angry at the realization that he had been lured into a conversation with her.
But his reaction surprised her. Instead of anger, he let out a loud, belly shaking, laugh.
