The Pack house was silent and the city around it as well. The weather was already getting warm and only the guards walked up and down the streets, of course a few youngsters wondered around as well as some troublemakers. In this usual sight, Camille closed the doors of the infirmary and she headed home. She greeted the pups she knew as well as the guards. It was still almost unbelievable for her that her friend's son was able to creat such a colorful community and keep this peaceful life safe. That moment Camille saw a flickering light in one of the the high-school windows. With her eyebrows frowned she carefully approached but couldn't see inside due to the curtains pulled together.
Probably some kids decided to make some mess... It would be better to let the guards know. But they might end up in big trouble. Camille rolled her eyes at her own weak heart for the kids and sighed before silently walking through the opened main door. She followed the sounds of a sewing machine from the crafts room and instead of peaking in she opened the doors wide and lifted her hand dazzling with her magical light.
- WHO ARE YOU?! - she asked and Adalinda stopped woking with the sewing machine. She looked up and with her usual silliness she waved to Camille.
- Oh, Hi! - Camille took her hand down and looked at Ada with suspicion.
- Adalinda, it is late to be here. - she said wile she approached carefully the strange girl. She felt an immense power radiating from her purplish eyes.
- I know, but I wanted to fix my dress for the ball. - Camille stopped.
- What ball? - she asked and Ada smiled kindly.
- Hm... That Alpha ball that Izzy is going with Tim. - Camille took a seat on the other side of the desk and asked with pity in her voice.
- Why do you think you are going too, dear? - Ada kept sewing a pearl decor back to the skirt while she talked. Camille couldn't not notice how skilled the little girl was. Too skilled for a simple girl found in the middle of nowhere.
- Tase told us to buy a dress for me too, so I suppose he takes me with him as well! I'm so excited! Is had been so long since I saw a ball! - Ada said and her chatting suddenly stopped.
- Adalinda, I hate to be the one to tell you, but Tase got the order to take Sabrina as his partner to the ball. - Adalinda looked into Camille's eyes and a cold shiver ran down the spine of the old witch. When their eyes met she couldn't hold her posture and head high. There was a tinkle in the little lady's eyes and something mischievous in her smile that alarmed Camille's senses to run for her life. Yet her legs didn't move at all.
- Who said that I will be Tase's partner? I just need to go to the ball and enjoy it. - The ominous feeling suddenly disappeared and the room was filled with warmth. The sweet scent of honeysuckle wafted in and Adalinda's face seemed innocent in the candlelight. Suddenly, the previous fear was gone and Camille felt she could trust this child. If she asked her to, she would even touch the candle flame for Adalinda. That moment she shook her head and jumped up from the table. Camille lifted her hand between them and casted a spell of a magical shield to protect herself. She shouted at Adalinda.
- Who are you? - Adalinda stood up from the desk and picked her dress up as well unbothered by Camille's actions. She looked at the dress and smiled happily.
- Perfect! - she said with a big smile. She turned to Camille and grinned at her.
- No need for that, I mean no harm. - she said and took a step towards Camille. She grunt her teeth and cast a spell at Adalinda. That spell was supposed to reveal her enemies powers and true self, unless the enemy was a celestial being or a mystical creature of a much higher rank than her. The spell hit Adalinda and she whimpered.
- This stings! - she said and her eyes flashed with a deep purple light. As if her pupils were made of purple fire. Adalinda turned her head towards the door and smiled. She blinked twice and fall on the ground. That moment Tase rushed in with two guards to the room. He saw the unconscious Adalinda and Camille with her defensive magic.
- What happened here?! - she asked growling. The guards bowed their heads down under tye pressure of the Alpha's power. Camille pulled her shield down and bowed her head as well.
- Alpha, I must warn you that you are cherishing a snake on your bossom! That girl is dangerous. I don't know what creature she could be, but I don't recommend you to stay near her. And I beg you Alpha, don't take her with you to the ball! - Tase looked at Camille, who used to be his mother's childhood friend and acted as a second mother for both him and Timon for years after they've lost their parents. Then, his glance wondered at the still unconscious Adalinda. She looked like a spring fairy, small, fragile and soft.
- She looks like she cannot hurt a fly. - Tase said and Titan shook his head in their mind.
"- There must be a reason why Camille acts like this Tase.
-But Ada saved us! She saved our lives!
" - That was ten years ago Tase. The girl you knew, might not exist anymore. I can only imagine what she had been through to survive. Please reconsider your decision twice regarding her. - Tase looked at Camille again and sighed.
- Go home Camille, it is late.
- But Tase! - Camille called his name when he turned his back to her, with Adalinda in his arms.
- Good night Camille, don't make me repeat myself. - she nodded and Tase ordered one of the guards to bring the dress along as well. Camille stayed in the now empty room for a while after that but she couldn't shook the bad feeling about Adalinda off. She rushed home and started to research in all of her books, to find out what that creature could be, and to make sure the life of these people, who became her family and friends, will remain safe. In the meantime Tase took Adalinda back to her room and put her on her bed. He caressed her face and Ada smiled in her sleep. She held Tase's hand and pulled it to her chest. She rolled to her side hugging Tase's hand as if it was a plushy. Tase chuckled at her innocent cuteness and tried to pull his arm away, but Ada held him down.
-She is surprisingly strong...
"- She always was. Don't you remember how she took us to her house?
-I lost consciousness. I thought she might used a sleigh or something similar. - Titan shook his head again.
" - Dude... She picked us up. I lost consciousness after she picked us on her shoulders and headed towards the house. - Tase's eyes widened.
- She was just a child... Not even a werewolf pup is that strong at that age! Not to mention she always looked so fragile.
"- I've been telling you for years that she is not what she looks like.- Tase took another glance at the peacefully sleeping Adalinda and decided to scoot next to her, pulling the blanket on them with his free hand.
- She must have her reasons to hide the truth. I won't force her to tell me everything now, I hope she'll one day. But till then, she is just Adalinda.
"- You are hopeless... - Titan said with a yawn and both of them fall asleep.
