CHAPTER 13

It's Saturday and I'm not sure what to expect from this day. Today will be my first date with Nash. After my talk with Rex, Nash and I had agreed to start going on dates to get to know each other and learn to trust each other. I heard the sound of Nash's car outside my house and the doorbell ringing shortly after. I had let my parents know well ahead of time that I would be going on a date today and pleaded with my dad to be nice and for my mom to be normal. I had worried my mother would drown Nash in an ocean of questions from how we met to when to expect grandkids. She had the tendency to get way ahead of herself and I did not need Nash to be encouraged to rush things along.

There was a knock on my door. "Come in." my mother entered to see how far I was. I could see the clear excitement on her face as she smiled from ear to ear. "Mom, please don't get too excited, it's just a first date." I could practically hear the wedding bells playing in her head. "I know sweetheart, but this is your first date. He's quite handsome too." she says as she winks at me. "How do I look?" my mom assesses my outfit. I had picked out a baby pink long sleeved t-shirt and black jeans with white sneakers. "You look beautiful honey" she says as she motions for me to sit down. She begins to gently brush my hair to style it as she smiles proudly. I could tell she was impressed with Nash, she would've lectured me if she wasn't. "OK, you're ready." she says, and we leave the room to meet Nash and my Dad downstairs.

My Dad seemed to be having the no funny business talk with Nash. My father was a gentle soul but was very protective of my mom and I. My mom cleared her throat to make them aware that we had just entered the room. Soon it was time for Nash and I to leave for our date. "Where are we going?" I asked "You'll see." ?was all he said. "So... I'm your mate. It seems like you don't have much of a choice in this." I say, although it's more of a question "It's not like we have no choice, there have been those who have rejected their fate." Nash says "Was that your plan a few nights ago when you slept with her?" I ask Nash, my feelings were hurt over the thought of him planning to leave me "No. Never." was all he said as a look of shame came over his face. "That was the worst drunken mistake I have ever made. I do not know what possessed me to do something like that." his eyes were pleading with mine, "Who is she to you?" I asked and for a split second he looked nervous but it was soon covered up. "Nash we need to clear this up before anything else happens." I said desperate for some answers "Her name is Alice, she's a childhood friend. She's also an Alpha's daughter. She had come to visit and" He stopped before he went into any details of that night. "Will she be a problem I would always have to worry about?" I asked him. "No. She knows about you now and swore not to get in the way." Nsh seems to trust this girl a lot. I would be stupid to do the same. I'm not that naive. I know I would have to watch my back with her.
