I sat in a comfortable chair in Nash’s office patiently waiting for my questions to be answered. After Zoltain had given Nash full control over his body he brought me back to his house or much rather what he referred to as his Pack House. The room was filled with the growing awkward silence as I became more and more impatient. “So, do you like… go to the doctor or the vet?” I asked jokingly but regretted my question immediately at the sight of Nash’s jaw clenching. “Sorry.” I apologized before looking at my lap suddenly wishing the earth would swallow me whole. “I was just- never mind.” My palms began to sweat, I couldn’t help the nervous feeling building up in my stomach.
“So are you going to tell me all the answers to my questions or am I going to have to sniff it out? Although I’m sure my sense of smell isn’t as great as yours.” Nash sighed letting my snide comment on his metamorphosis from man to beast go. “Yes Ellane, I’ll answer your questions.” I wonder why he’s so mad at me?
“Okay. Tell me everything. Why did I see Zoltain in my dreams? Why do I feel an attraction towards you both physically and emotionally? Why did you look like crap earlier today? Why do I feel tingles when our skin touches? Why did I feel sick the other night?” I think that’s all the questions I have for now “Okay that’s a lot to answer but as promised I will answer them. Laney are you familiar with the term soul mates?” Nash asked and I nodded my head in response “When every werewolf is created we are given a soul mate, our other half who we are destined to be with. We are able to identify our mates by their scent-they usually smell like us mixed with a heavenly scent of their own-, when we touch we feel a jolt of electricity, we have a strong emotional and physical pull towards them, we call it the mate bond. Mates are life partners and equals and you-” before Nash could complete his speech I jumped out of my seat “and I am yours? Your mate?” I asked nervously. Nash nodded slowly. “That’s the reason you saw Zoltain in your dreams, my soul was calling out to you.” I nodded slowly sinking back into my seat “So why did you look like s**t?” I asked abruptly. Nash looked down nervously “It was because I hadn’t seen you in days and-” he paused to let out a nervous breath “-because I hurt you.” He completed looking down “What do you mean you ‘hurt’ me?” I asked while anger replaced my nerves. “I didn’t mean to Laney I was drunk and you ran from me. I never meant to-” Nash began to ramble “Mean to what!” I screamed and launched out of my seat, I leaned over his desk “I didn’t know that it would have that effect on you. I’m sorry Laney.” I stumbled back at his confession “You are the reason I was covered in burn marks when I woke up that morning?” I asked in disbelief. The sad look in his eyes was all the confirmation I needed.
I stormed out of Nash’s office not knowing where to go in this damn big house. His sister must be here. “Rex!” I called out not bothering to look where I was going as tears began to spill from my eyes. I bumped into someone while whipping my tears “Watch where you’re going b***h!” A woman’s voice barked at me “I’m sorry.” I apologised as I began to sob uncontrollably, “Weak human.” The woman sneered at me and walked off in the direction I had just come from, Nash’s office.
I began to run down the hall in an attempt to get away from them. “Rex!” I called out once more as I felt myself become dizzy. Rex came running towards me when she saw me and the state I was in. “Oh my God, Elly what happened?” she asked and I never got to answer her question as I collapsed in her arms.
