CHAPTER 8

I don't know what the hell came over me at that moment, but I sure as hell just wanted it to stop as soon as it started. I caused such a scene by crying and storming out of the building like that, almost everyone who was still wondering the school grounds had stopped and stared. I cried like a baby for God knows what over a man that I hardly even knew. It was pathetic , all it took was a few words to break out the water works.

The somewhat bad ass part of me could not give two craps about what people thought, while the other part was completely mortified that I had made such a fool out of myself. I still can't help thinking about the guy that put me in this position in the first place... this has to be some kind of sick joke. He probably thinks that I'm just some young naive girl he could easily play games with... I may be young, but damn it, I am not stupid. My thought process went on like this for a while as I sat on my bed until sleep eventually took over my senses.

The howling was all I heard when I opened my eyes to complete darkness. My eyes took quite some time to adjust and as it did, the howling became closer. Finally, my eyes had fully adjusted to my surroundings. I was surrounded by many tall trees, I was lying in the forest. I slowly sat up as the howling continued, it became louder each minute. Then it suddenly became quiet. The howling had stopped. I looked around for what sounded like a pack of wolves but found nothing.

I looked down at my soiled covered hands, and that was when I felt it. Slow, heavy breathing on the back of my neck. I was overcome with fear. I slowly looked up to see red glowing dots... No, they weren't dots. They were red glowing eyes that belonged to the ginormous black wolf that stood taller than my 5'4 frame.

I expected the wolf to rip me to pieces, but instead he stared down into my eyes, he looked so sad and torn apart, he then bowed his head in shame for reasons unknown to me.

I felt a sudden sharp pain in my chest that completely knocked the wind out of my lungs and caused my knees to buckle as I let out a whimper. I collapsed as the pain slowly spread through my body as I looked to the giant wolf for help. He looked down at me then cried to the moon as if begging it for help. It was then that I realized the wolf felt the same pain I did. I looked down at my collapsed form as our cries filled the air. He then gently laid down next to me. He crawled closer to me as if he was trying to comfort me. Slowly our cries became softer.

The wolf never once left my side, he stayed to comfort me.

"Ellane... Ellane..." I heard my mom whispering "you were crying in your sleep sweetheart, are you feeling alright?" my mom asked with concern written all over her face "I'm okay mom, I guess I'm just not feeling well." It was half true. I still felt the physical pain of last night's dream, it was strange that it felt so real...

I slowly lifted the blankets with my aching arms and attempted to climb out of my bed, but it was of no use. I was so drained that I couldn't find the effort to leave the house today. Now that I think about it, staying in doesn't sound too bad I thought, as I slowly drifted off to sleep.

"Oh God I hope she's okay." I hear someone outside my door speaking in a hushed tone "Me too, she's only human, last night must have been rough for her." Another voice replies "He's her mate, how could he do that to her Rex?" the other voice replies sounding hurt, wait Rex? "I don't know Sarrah, I can't believe my brother would do something like that... he said Elly wanted time, next thing I know his banging the pack slut." What? Nash slept with some girl right after our talk? My heart began to speed up. "She's awake." Sarrah said and soon my door slowly opened to reveal Rex and Sarrah as they slowly entered, asked "Hey buddy, how you feeling?" Sarrah asked in her baby voice and I give her a blank stare and turned to Rex "He slept with someone right after our talk?" I asked already knowing the answer, both their faces held a shocked expression "Crap." They both said in unison. "It's okay guys, I know where we stand with each other and now I can move on with my life." I say with determination while the continued to stare at me in shock.
