PROLOGUE

Nash's POV In her room I sat, inhaling every scent there was. With a pen in my trembling hand and the paper on the desk, I tried to contemplate the right words to use. Think Nash, think. My hands still shaking as I put the pen to the paper "Dear Laney". I began to write as the tears gathered in my eyes at the sight of her name. I never thought that I would end up like this, one of the world's strongest Alphas writing a goodbye letter to my mate, on the run. It's shameful really. She was to be my destiny and I screwed it up. I don't know what my future holds for me anymore and, honestly, whatever it is , it's bound to be bad. So I'll have to leave her. I won't let her carry the consequences of my actions. I'm doing this to protect her. I hope she'll understand. God I hope she does. I began to let the words flow straight from the heart , each one being nothing but the truth. She'll understand, she has to. I thought to myself as I completed the letter, picking up a picture of her that always sat in the corner on her desk and tucking it into my pocket. I then began to make my way to her closet to find some items of clothing of hers, then I saw it. It was an oversized t-shirt she loved sleeping in, the one I had bought for her some time back. I slowly picked up the top to smell it. It smelled like her , vanilla and mint. I folded it and tucked it into the pocket of my leather jacket next to the photo of her, I then began to take my jacket off and my t-shirt followed soon after and left it on the desk next to the letter. The sound of a car filled my ears as I began closing my jacket. It was time. Good bye Laney , I'll always love you.
