Penelope Petrov's POV
As soon as I got home I started to do as much research as I could on Kyle because he truly did intrigue me and that said a lot considering that I get bored of almost everything.
While I was looking into his life I noticed that his mother was not in his life and he grew up without her. Then I started to wonder.
Why did she leave?
Did it have something to do with Kyle?
Is she even still alive?
The more I thought about these questions the more angry I became.
What if she left Kyle out of her own free will?
Just thinking of that conclusion made my blood boil because Kyle could have had a better life if she had stayed. However I sort of understand why she would leave but I just did not understand why she did not take Kyle with her.
I found out that Kyle grew up with just himself and I did not see a hint of a best friend that could have existed anywhere.
His father was a gambler and has been a screw up his whole life. He probably would not have been able to afford the crumbling mess they lived in if Kyle did not work as much as he did.
Kyle's father was a freeloader.
I also figured out that he wanted to be a Chef most likely since he was attending a culinary arts school. Good for him I thought with a satisfied smirk he aspires to be somebody.
How can I help him though?
After basically going through his life I sensed that he does not seem like the type of guy to accept help or even accept an act of kindness. Maybe I should pay off his tuition and just let him think that it was some random person that did it.
After a while of digging up his past I decided that I knew enough and just relaxed for a while. My relaxing session was ruined as soon as the shuddering realization of me becoming emotionally and mentally attached to Kyle hit me.
However I did not spend too long thinking about this situation when Ken knocked on my door. I tensed a bit knowing what he was going to ask but still I played it coy.
"What is it Ken?" I was sort of peeved because my moment of pondering was interrupted.
"Boss do you want to pick up your coffee today or should I?" He sounded hesitant asking this question which I did not understand why. It was not a big deal.
"No actually I have business to cater to you can pick it up for me today." Which was not a complete lie since I have to go explain to the Italian Godfather as to why his underboss was killed at my mercy.
"Alright boss I will be back in a few minutes." I relaxed my shoulders and let out a breath I did not know I was holding.
I really should start getting ready for this meeting because I knew that this was going to be a long one.
I arrived at the place of our meeting 30 minutes late and I did not feel an ounce bad about coming later than planned.
"Finally Miss. Petrov decides to show up." The fat faced bald headed Mr. Barbosa decides to say quite rudely as soon as I walk in.
Way to start a meeting.
"Shut up Barbosa who told you that your opinion was ever relevant?" I sneered back with just as much if not more venom.
"This type of business is jut not meant for women. You cannot even manage to be punctual to a simple meeting." I was getting mad and my finger twitched to reach for my trustee gun that is resting on my right hip.
"I arrived late because this meeting holds no real importance to me and I am sorry if you think that I should have been a man rather than a woman but let's think for a minute. Would a man be able to wipe out the underboss I did yesterday with just as much anger as I did or would they chicken out just like wusses? I am sure you can relate to the wuss bloodline." I knew I should have stayed home and not come here.
Mr. Barbosa looked angry in fact he was seething so much I thought he was going to start foaming at the mouth. The thought made me snort.
"Enough Petrov I just want to have a calm meeting about this situation and clear it up fast." The Godfather says as he now decides to interrupt.
"I am glad that you are on the same page because I want to get out of this humid warehouse as soon as possible." Which was true because this warehouse smelled atrocious.
"This weekend you shot my main underboss. Why?" Well this man just does not like to wait.
"I shot him because I suspected that he was stealing from me and when I tried to confront him about it he lied and provoked me." There was no use lying to him.
"I see."
"I also suspected him being part of the death of my parents and when I asked him that he denied it and provoked me once again while threatening to end my life. I am not a woman who holds back on anything and that includes my temper and I had it up to my limit with him." I was twitching to get out of here now since this topic was doing nothing but upsetting me.
"Well did you get your answers?" He did not even sound upset as the though of losing one of his best workers. Although I hated the guy I must admit that he did his job well and was one hell of a good underboss.
"No I did not at that point I knew he was not going to tell me anything and I wanted answers not to be toyed with."
"Well you know what they say Penelope an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, a lover for a lover."
