A wolves nemesis

A playful smile tugged at Cassia's lips. "Fix your hair and makeup, girl. Then come out and meet me at the bar and I will give you something to eat" she said, waving a hand towards the dressing tables. Nodding, Lila took a seat at one of the tables, its mirror framed by round bulbs casting a warm glow. She brushed out her long hair, then reached for some makeup. As she applied a bit of mascara and lip gloss, she took a moment to take in her reflection. She looked different somehow, a little bolder, a little more daring. After applying a sharp winged liner, she applied some highlighter on her cheeks. She looked very sultry and daring. Pleased with the finished look, Lila took a deep breath and stepped out into the main room. She slid onto one of the barstools, glancing toward Cassia, who was busy serving patrons. The bar was buzzing with activity, a mix of laughter and music filling the air. Lila’s gaze drifted around the room, feeling out of place yet curious about this world Cassia seemed so at ease in. The bar hummed with activity, laughter and conversations blending with the thumping beat. As Lila’s gaze swept across the club, the atmosphere suddenly shifted. The door swung open, and a noticeable stillness swept through the crowd. A man strode in, impossibly handsome, with long dark hair falling in perfect disarray around chiseled features. He was flanked by two others, though they paled in comparison to his magnetic presence. As if on cue, a group of dancers flocked to him, their eyes wide with recognition and desire. It was clear he was well-known here—someone of importance. Lila found herself staring, unable to tear her gaze away. There was something about him that drew her in, like gravity itself had pulled him into her orbit. His confident stride, the way he carried himself like he owned the place, even the knowing smirk that played on his lips—all of it spoke of power and danger. As his piercing blue eyes met hers across the room, a shiver ran down her spine. He ignored the women vying for his attention and walked straight toward her. “Couldn’t help but notice you,” he said, his voice smooth and rich, like velvet over stone. Lila raised an eyebrow, a hint of a challenge in her eyes. “Then try harder not to,” she replied coolly. He laughed, the sound deep and vibrating through her chest. “Feisty little wolf,” he murmured, his gaze tracing her features with an unmistakable intrigue. “I like that.” She bristled slightly at his words, but there was no denying the effect he had on her. It was then, as she studied him up close, that she noticed the signs—things that made him more than just a charismatic stranger. His skin was pale, almost luminescent under the dim lights, and his eyes had an unnatural glint. A faint crimson tinge lingered at the corner of his mouth, like he had recently tasted something… or someone. A chill ran through her as realization dawned. He wasn’t just an ordinary man—he was a vampire. Her pulse quickened, but she kept her expression calm. She had encountered vampires before, but never this close, and certainly not inside a human establishment. It added a dangerous edge to the air, making the room feel like it was holding its breath, waiting for something to happen. “Something on your mind?” he asked, his voice low and taunting, as if he could tell she’d figured it out. Lila tilted her head, keeping her tone steady. “Just trying to guess what kind of man you are,” she replied. “You seem like the type who enjoys a little… danger.” Her words dripped with double meaning, hinting at her discovery without openly stating it. His smirk widened, revealing a glimpse of sharp canines. “Oh, I do. But I also like to keep my secrets,” he murmured, leaning in a fraction closer. “And something tells me you’re not exactly who you seem to be, either.” Their eyes locked, a silent understanding passing between them. She was playing with fire, and he knew it. Yet, the thrill of it sparked a reckless curiosity in Lila—a desire to know who this vampire really was and what he wanted from her. Before she could reply, the vampire’s smirk deepened, and he pulled back. “I’ll be back,” he said, his voice dropping to a teasing murmur, “and let’s try continue this conversation.” Without waiting for her response, he turned and disappeared into the crowd, two eager dancers quickly rushing to his side as he headed into a private room. Lila watched him go, feeling a strange mix of irritation and intrigue bubbling inside her. She shook her head, turning back to the bar just as Cassia approached with a plate of bar food and a drink. “Here you go,” Cassia said, sliding the plate over. “Eat up. It’s nothing special, but it will do.” Lila offered a grateful smile. “Thanks, I’m starving.” Cassia wiped down the bar, glancing at Lila with curiosity. “So, what’s your plan for tonight? Need a ride home?” “I’m not sure yet,” Lila admitted, taking a bite of the food. It was just simple bar fare—shoestring fries and mini sliders—but it tasted amazing after the long night. “I don’t think I’ll be able to catch the bus until morning.” “You can crash at my place,” Cassia offered with a smile. “It’s nearby.” “Thanks, I might take you up on that,” Lila said, relieved to have a backup plan. As Lila finished her meal, she noticed the vampire returning from the private room. His lips were a vivid shade of crimson, and his expression was content, almost smug. He wiped the corner of his mouth with a languid motion, his gaze zeroing in on her as she stood to head toward the restroom. “Leaving so soon?” he asked, his voice dripping with amusement as he closed the distance between them. “Just need a moment,” Lila replied, her tone casual. “It’s my turn to be back, I suppose.” He chuckled softly, his eyes following her as she slipped away. “Don’t keep me waiting too long,” he murmured. In the bathroom, Lila washed the grease from her hands, her mind still spinning from her encounter with the vampire. Who was he, and why did he seem so interested in her? She knew she should stay cautious, but the way his words wrapped around her made her stomach flutter, igniting a dangerous curiosity within her. When she returned, Lila decided to sit in one of the booths, intending to wait for Cassia to finish her shift. It wasn’t long before the vampire found her again, sliding into the seat across from her without an invitation. “Third time’s a charm, huh?” he said, his voice dripping with confidence. “You know, I’m starting to think you enjoy my company.” Lila met his gaze, the corners of her mouth curling into a wry smile. “Or maybe I just find you amusing,” she retorted, her tone light but edged with challenge. “Amusing, hmm?” He leaned in closer, his eyes blazing with a dangerous charm. “Well, I was hoping to be more than just a source of entertainment.” “And what exactly were you hoping for?” she asked, her voice tinged with curiosity. His gaze roamed over her face, lingering on her lips before meeting her eyes again. “I want to take you somewhere private,” he said, his voice a deep purr. “Somewhere we can… get to know each other a little better.” Lila laughed softly, shaking her head. “You don’t give up easily, do you?” “No,” he replied, his tone turning almost predatory. “I’m a vampire who always gets what he wants. And right now, what I want is you.” “That sounds like a line,” she teased, though the way his words seemed to envelop her made her pulse race. “I’m not that easy.” His smile was wicked, his eyes glinting with challenge. “Good. I wouldn’t want you to be.” He leaned back, his gaze never leaving hers. “But one way or another, I always get what I want.” She arched an eyebrow, half amused, half intrigued. “Is that a promise or a threat?” “A bit of both,” he answered smoothly, his tone as dangerous as it was seductive. “But I’d much rather it be a promise.” The air between them crackled with tension, a mix of danger and desire. Lila knew she should walk away, that she was flirting with something perilous. Yet something about the vampire was intoxicating, pulling her in like a moth to a flame. “Looks like you’re going to have to work for it, vampire,” she said, giving him a daring look. His smile widened, his gaze darkening with anticipation. “I wouldn’t have it any other way, little wolf.” Their moment was interrupted as Cassia ran toward the booth, waving her phone frantically.
