CHAPTER 2:The devils terms

The sounds coming from the hallway grew stronger and louder as heavy footsteps echoed against the stone floor, slowly as though whoever was walking down the hallway towards the room had no intentions to hurry. The fire torches that were giving light towards the pathway flickered violently as if it wanted to be put away by the cold wind. Their flames bending away from the door and slowly deeming. Elena frightened beside Seraphina, her face draining of color as the fear of what might be was getting intense. “He is coming,” Elena slowly whispered to Seraphina, but she barely moved her lips. Seraphina’s blood began to pump faster than normal, her heartbeat became faster as she breathed heavily. Her body, which was already exhausted from fear, yet she refused to stay at rest. She held tight to the edge of the wooden bed, her hands cold and shivering. “Who’s coming?” she whispered back. Before Elena could walk down to the door to answer it, the door slowly opened on its own while making a screeching noise. The presence of an ancient Godly figure filled the room. Following an overwhelming cold beyond reason. The temperature in the room dropped quickly, freezing and at the same time trying to catch her breath, Seraphina’s breath in her lungs. She fell off the bed and on her knees without knowing the exact reason but her body seems to not be under her control. Her body responded to the power far greater than her will. ASMODEUS DAMRIES, King of Hell, stepped inside. He was very tall, unlike any being she had ever set eyes on. Covered from head to toe in dark robes that looked like it was woven from shadow itself. He had eyes that burnt like embers buried deep beneath ice, watching her patiently? Elena fell on her knees beside Seraphina, her head pressed down to the stone as she bowed. As she wanted to speak _ “master I was just……” before she could continue, he shut her up and said. “Leave us” Asmodeus commanded. Elena didn't even hesitated a second before standing and leaving the room at once. The door behind her was slammed shut behind her and the sound of that gave her a shock. Right in the room, there was a few minutes of an awadard Silence, as thick and suffocating. Seraphina gathered the courage to speak, and she said “Why am I here?” Her tone of speaking cracked. “Why am I been brought here?” she continued. Still in her terrified tone she spoke for the last time “please tell me”. Asmodeus kept silent as he circled her slowly, the sound of his footsteps soundless. “Because Hell is standing at the edge of war,” he replied in a calm tone. “And you are the only key that keeps it from falling.” he said at as he drew near. She nodded in a disagreeing manner as she said. “I’m just a mere human, I know not of anything.” The Devil stopped moving and lifted her chin with a finger, not making any physical contact with her skin, yet he controlled the movement of her face. “My dear child”, he spoke, “ you are blood-bound,” he said. “The lineage which you are from was forged a long time before your world learned to fear my name. The blood that flows in your body carries a unique covenant—one that can seals treaties no demon can dare to break.” Seraphina’s mind was filled with image of ancient battles, burning worlds, demons devouring each other. She gasped in fright as the visions disappeared. “My son,” Asmodeus continued, “can never inherit the throne unless he has been cleansed by the blood. The curse laid upon him weakens Hell itself. It's only a bride whose blood is chosen like that of yours can complete the purification, and make him worth.” Soon she was struck with realization. “So I’m not a human to you,” she whispered. “I’m a solution.” Asmodeus’s gaze hardened. “You are a necessity.” “And if I refuse?” she said out of an unimaginable boldness. And For the very first time, the Devil smiled—but there was no warmth in it. “Then Hell and the underworld will be torn apart, and the Earth will follow not too long after, and I am pretty sure you won't want that.” He answered. Seraphina, once again started feeling the infernal mark on her palm burn again, sealing his words into her flesh. “You will get married to my son,” Asmodeus calmly said. “The treaty will be renewed and War will be prevented.” He faced toward to the direction of the door. “Rest a little, while you can, Seraphina. Tomorrow is a very special day, a day Hell will witness your union.” The door slowly closed behind him. Seraphina collapsed to the floor, tears rushing heavily down her face as the horrible truth settled slowly in her chest. “So my blood was never mine.” she said. And the Devil’s terms had already been settled. She sobed and sobed until Elena heard her from a distance and rushed quickly inside the room. She lifted Seraphina's face up and wiped her eyes, then said. “Hope he didn't hurt you”. Seraphina said “no, but what he told me hurt really bad” as she explained to Elena that it was exactly what she told her that the devil said. “And now when the time comes, my blood will be used to settle a deal I know nothing about”. Seraphina said as she continued crying. Elena consoled Seraphina while the devil went to his son Lucien's room to talk with him. “Lucien” he shouted, “come for tomorrow is the day you will be purified, And the curse will be sealed.” Then Lucien answered….. “father, what if this doesn't work out again, and we have to keep another innocent soul captive?” The devil answered “Are you trying to question what I have started years ago? I am very sure this one is the perfect one and it was proven by the infernal mark on her palm, and it glowed meaning she is the one”. The devil continued “I hope you are not having sympathy for her.” Silence filled the room as Lucien was unable to answer. He then spoke up and said “ I am not having sympathy father, I am just concerned if this will work.” Before his father the devil could speak up, a servant rushed in to info ASMODEUS that his presence was needed in the court room. He could only say to his son, “ rest for tomorrow marks the dawn of a new begining” and he left and silence filled the room.
