“Uneece?”
A friend’s shocked face turned to relief.
“Thank goodness, I finally found you.”
I was stunned when he initiated a brief hug.
Why is he here?
The hug felt awkward, but as far as I can see, he seemed to be over the moon to have found me.
“How come you’re here?”
“No time. We must hurry. It is not safe in this area.”
He didn’t give me time to reply and dragged me further deep into the forest away from the village.
“How did you get here? I thought you didn’t want to leave the Lycan kingdom.”
“I escaped after hearing you were kidnapped.”
I studied him. Wondering if he was lying. I remembered him being depressed but contented with his life back at the Lycan kingdom.
And now, standing close to him made me feel skeptical about his true agenda.
He even knew my name…
