Jay's P.O.V
I walked into my office passing by my secretary, Brianna, and she immediately stood up and greeted me. She was ready to bury me in messages, but there was only one important thing on my mind right now.
"Anything from Miss Sloane?" I sounded impatient but I felt excited, I took my phone out to check if there was anything from her. I hadn't seen her last night, I had to pay my parents a visit, but what's strange is that I haven't heard from her since we last spoke yesterday afternoon. "No, sir." Really? Nothing on my phone either. As I was sitting down I wheeled my chair to the side of my desk where the telephone was and dialed Slo's number.
"Hey, babe" she only answered on the fifth ring, her voice still waking up. So sleepy, yet still sweet.
"Good morning, angel. Or should I say good afternoon? Are you okay?" please just tell me you're okay, woman!
"Uhm, yeah, I slept in." I waited for more.
"What's up?" What? That's it? This was the first time since we've met that she didn't send a morning text.
"I was in between meetings all morning, but got worried when there were no messages from you. So why are you still sleeping?"
"Awww, baby, I'm sorry I didn't check in with you this morning. Boo hoo." she started chuckling. I love her sarcasm, it always lightens up the mood, but this was not the time for it
"You don't, I was just a little caught off guard."
"Well if you must know, I was sleeping because I was tired because that's what tired people do." Nope. That's not it.
"Pick you up for dinner at four pm?"
"You want to have dinner at four pm?" she asked.
"No. I want to pick you up at four, dinner later. Maybe I can come over and help you get ready." I signaled for Brianna to leave the office and shut the door, she did at once. I leaned back into my chair.
"I'm up now so I'll be ready at four. Let me know when you're on your way and I'll wait outside for you. Okay?" Why does she sound so nervous?
"Why are you so nervous? And why are you so tired this morning?" I know she's not saying much, but the tone of her voice never betrays me.
"Look, love, can we talk about it later? I just slept bad last night, had nightmares, headaches, that sort of thing. I'll see you later okay, babe? But first, coffee."
"You sure you don't want me to come over?" I offered. Just say the word and I'll be there.
"Babe, just finish up your work and be here at four, okay? I'll be ready, I love you."
"Alright angel, I'll see you at four. I love you more than you know." I waited until she hung up the phone before I buzzed Brianna.
"Yes, sir?"
"Brianna, make a reservation for two for 6pm at The Pier's seafood dining area, ask for Montesino, tell him Miss Sloane and I will be coming tonight, he always arranges things the way Miss Sloane likes it. I want white lilies wrapped and ready to go."
"Yes sir. Is that all sir?"
Yeah, ask Cedric to give me a call I thought. No, I trust Sloane. As long as she's okay, she said she'll tell me later about her night.
"No, that's all for now."
I went into the back room of my office, took a quick shower and put on another suit. I comb my hair back, it's gotten long, my woman is going to have to cut it again. A good excuse to put her on my lap, as if I'd need an excuse, I could just ask or tell her either way. Our bodies needed each other, that's why we fit together so good, as though her body was molded to fit mine especially. I knew from the day we first met that she would be mine. I want her for myself.
I was about to leave the office before I stopped to adjust my cufflink when I heard my cellphone ring.. When I saw the caller ID on the screen I sighed internally. Great. This should be interesting..
