Chronos Shift

After a Month

    If I could just sleep for a week for the months that passed by that only focused on training. My whole body was sore, every muscle was pulsating as if crying for the suffering to stop. However, Michael was raring to go everyday. I don’t know where he gets the energy while I’m here collapsed in my bed, ignoring the rattling he’s doing to me.

    But, mom said to not neglect my studies even this training is on-going. It’s a plus that the place we’re training on is placed in stopped time, me and Michael had a chance to spend time with our other classmates. We went in malls, restaurants, parks, heck, we even got in a buffet sponsored by my mom just because it was semester’s break. I forgot to mention, Aaron and Adam are a thing now. The height difference was really cute, Aaron was being slung over the giant Adam’s shoulder which would utter a blush from him every lunch break in class.

    School was basically just a house for our friends to hang out on. Everyone was really helpful to one another, there was one time when there was an exam and almost everyone didn’t know the answers. We had this cheat sheet passed around as stealthily as we can, almost getting caught when Lucy dropped the paper on the floor. Michael had to stop time and get the sheet to avoid getting expelled. Alas, we all got a perfect grade. The teacher praised us so we decided to have said buffet by mom. She didn’t about our scheme, we kept it in the down low since she is the principal here.

    Laughter filled that lively buffet table with an assortment of mouth-watering dishes. Tara delivered the latest gossip as always about one of the teachers, Blake for his short stature had the heartiest laugh that gathered looks from the other customers, Alex and Arronn in one side flirting with each other, Charlotte brushing Lucia's hair, while Lucia shows to Charlotte earrings she found online, Hollie joining in the gossip that Tara shared among the table, and Demi was buried on her book.

    “Wake up!” Michael pushed me off the bed.

    “AHH!” I winced in pain as the thud of my body rang throughout my room.

    I pushed myself up and saw Michael laughing at the distance. My eyes met his and turned into a cobra-like stance. His laughter faded and his eyes widened. I dashed towards his direction only to be dodged with a roll. He crouched on the floor all Spiderman-like. Gazing at him, I saw his eyes flare a green color and a smirk plastered on his face.

    Bet he’s going to use his powers

    I acted nonchalant, not lifting my sight from him as he did the time stop once more and walked around as I feigned to be part of the stopped time. Then, a smile formed on my face and I pounced on his large stature. From the training, I became ten times stronger than before. Strong enough to tackle him to the ground. Straddled on top of him, I pinned his arms to the floor as he squirmed to break free. But my grip was much more ironclad now.

    Suddenly, the door opened. My mom walks in with a baffled look on her face. We quickly stood up and dusted ourselves, a blush creeping in our faces from our...act.

    “Since the semester’s break ended, you better go to school early.” She commanded as I looked at Michael.

    “Wait, break’s over?” I groaned.

    “Well, you did sleep for like a month.”

    My eyes widened from the response.

    Is he serious?

    “Yep, he was trying to wake you up but you were just there dozing off.” My mom added to his statement.

    So my wish was actually granted. I giggled a little, raising eyebrows from the two.

    “You better hurry.” She flashed a mischievous smiled as she went out the door.

    I looked back at Mike and he just shrugged his shoulders. He motioned for the bathroom and I nodded. We went inside and stripped each other of our clothes, and we stepped in the tub with soap froth already forming. The water was warm as well as Mike’s strapping body behind me as we washed each other. Kissing from time to time as water trickled down our skin. If I could just stay here for eternity.

    But, Mike stood up. The water swaying and falling on to the tiled floor with a splash.

    “We’re gonna be late.” He offered his hands and I obliged.

    We went into my closet with an array of clothes of him and mine. Pondering on the thought as to what his parents may be up to, now that Mike’s here 24/7.

    We went out of the closet with matching hoodies painted violet and washed jeans. Grabbing our bags at the foot of the bed and slung it over our shoulder. We raced down the stairs and I was crowned victor, mocking him with a laugh. My mom strode to our direction and handed me a wad of cash as she wore a tucked-in white blouse with a charcoal blazer that exuded elegance from her tall stature.

    “Buy yourselves some breakfast.”

    Hesitantly, I grabbed the cash as I looked at Mike who had the same look in his face. Her loving eyes turned into sardonic ones. Mike and I just shrugged the feeling and went inside his sleek black sports car that gleamed from the sun.

    “Mom, aren’t you coming?” I asked as I peered into the door before leaving fully.

    “No sweetie, I have important business to attend to.” She smiled, and with a snap of her fingertips, a green light enveloped the whole house, and she disappeared along with it.

    I dashed to the car to which Mike was holding the door for me as I climbed in. Soon after, he followed with an audible thud. He turned the keys of the ignition and engine roared to life. Now, I knew he was gonna do the speed thing again but now that my body’s used to it, he just sped the car’s time without warning. Just a second passed and we were there at the school’s parking lot, and I didn’t have the urge to vomit again.

    Opening the door for me, we head inside the hallways and heard the restless echoes of our classmates’ discernible voices from afar. Looking at each other, we picked up the pace to our room. As Michael opened the door for me and we head inside, the room went quiet and everyone was staring at us. Alex darted to the two of us and held our shoulders.

    “Good, you’re both here.”
