Eyes

Where am I?     I woke up to the acrid stench of antiseptic, slowly opening my eyes and the bright light coming from the ceiling, temporarily blinding me. As my eyes adjusted to the light, I saw the ring of light in the ceiling, then I observed it being a reoccurring theme of the lights in this place.      I was lying down on a very comfy bed, being covered by a white cotton blanket. Feeling at peace.     Wait, am I dead     I sat up quickly, frisking my body, then my face.      "Oh! You're awake." A mellow voice from beside me resonated in my insides. Holy fuck     I looked at him and it was Alex.      A clear sign I am not dead yet...or am I.      I outstretched my hand and held his jaw at my palm. Turning his head sideways as I examine him. Letting go, eyeing him suspiciously     "You're not dead, right?"     "What?"      He chortled and I furrowed my eyebrows at him.      "Wait, you're serious? Nah, nah."     "Okay, okay, good."      A giggle escaped my lips and we just laughed inside the room. Looking around, the sun was setting, splashing the sky with orange.       Then, the audible opening of the door with squeaking sneakers neared us. And there goes Mike.     "Hey! Where were you? You were gone for like almost a day, what happened?" Mike placed his bag on the one of the posts of the bed and went to my side.     "I found him on the restroom floor, he was unconscious," Alex explained.     "Was I asking you?" He glares at Adam, his voice colder and deeper.     Jesus, the testosterone      Adam gulped and looked at me.     "So..umm..I gotta go for now, hope you feel better tomorrow, see ya!." He had those pleading eyes and when I nodded my head, his face lit up and he hugged me. I faced Mike and I can see him roll his eyes and scoff, he looked away for a little while then looked back when Alex left the room, his bag hoisted on his burly shoulders. He waved goodbye and flashed a smile, and I did the same.      Mike sat next to me on the comfy bed. He rests the back of his palm on my forehead, then he stoops down until he was the same level as my head and grabs my cheeks and pulls it towards his face. My eyes widened as I tried to retract my head, but his grip held me down. His lips close to mine and my cheeks turning a shade of scarlet, good thing he can't see it with his hand blocking the embarrassing sight, I can see his eyes examining mine then it only hit him like a second before he pulls my face away, a faint blush forms on his cheek and cleared his throat.      "What were you doing?" I asked, staring anywhere but his eyes.     "Oh...nothing, just you know...concerned," he stuttered. A small giggle erupting from my lips.     "What?" He asked, raising his eyebrows.     "Nothing, it's cute when you stutter," I said to him and his face immediately turn red.      "You little s**t!" He lightly punched me in the shoulder and I yelped.     "Oh s**t! Sorry!" He massaged the area where he punched me, he looked at me with those apologetic blue eyes and I assured him it was fine.      "What happened to you?"      "Well, if you didn't scare off Alex then he might've told you," I said to him mockingly and he just rolled his eyes and chuckled slightly.      "But, I did remember an orb in one of the stalls of the restroom, I touched it, and poof, here I am," I added then he looked at me with widened eyes and mouth agape.     "What?" I asked, getting a little uneasy from his reaction.     "Oh, uhh, nothing, I'm just glad you're okay." His voice trailing off. I was still curious and I wanted to ask him again but he stood up from the bed.     "Come on, let's go home, it's already 4, we better get going." He grabbed my bag that was hanging on the foot of the bed. The nurse came in and removed those sticky things for the heart monitor in which she needed to lift my shirt a little. I looked at Mike and turning away from me.     Weird.     As soon as the nurse left, Mike helps me stood up from the bed. I wore the shoes that he scooted with his feet near me and we went outside to the parking lot. It was a fairly long walk as the school had its own hospital apparently.     What kind of school is this.     We reached the parking lot, noticing that the parking lot was lined with trees. A forest from the looks of it. The night was coming and the forested area turning dark as I can't even see anything inside it.      Mike  opened the door of his car for me, as I was about to stoop down and sit, I felt a chill run down on my nape.     I looked behind me and stared off to the distance but only the forest was present.     "What is it?" Mike asked and looked in the direction I was looking at.     "Hmm, I swear I felt like someone's looking at me."     Then, Mike shoved me into the car. And shortly after, he was in the driver's seat, inserting the key in the ignition with such speed, glancing behind him as he reversed. Then, we jetted out there. It was like this morning again, he was speeding me to another dimension.     "What's the hurry now!" I shouted as the roar of the engine was getting louder. Our surroundings were like lines again and yet, Mike looked unaffected.      "You may be right that someone's looking at you."     "What-" An abrupt stop launched me from my seat, good thing I was wearing a seatbelt.      "Goddamnit, a stoplight," Mike shouted. He kept glancing at the side mirror as we stopped. Curiosity took over me and I peeked at the side mirror as well. Only to see a tinted black car that gleamed from the city's lights. The windows roll down and...a gun!     "GET DOWN!" I shouted and bullets started firing. The ricochet of bullets bouncing from the car in quick successions.     "f**k it!" Mike floored the  pedal while the light was still red. Gaining intense speed that glued to me to my seat, clutching the fabric making sure I won't fly off. He zips left and right, checking his side mirrors for our assailants, never leaving his foot off the gas pedal. He muttered curse words at every turn. Until I realized this place doesn't look familiar.     "Hey! Where are we going!"      "I'll explain it to you later but right now we gotta lose these guys!" Increasing the speed once more.      Bullets bounced off the steel plating, shouting at Mike to get down. Steering the wheel, contorting to different directions trying to lose the assailants. But, the image on the side mirror was getting larger.      "s**t!" We shouted in unison.     I didn't know anymore, I don't wanna die yet, come on, I'm still a virgin!     My heart beating too fast and trickles of sweat trailed down my forehead. Mike drifting the wheels into disarray, a riotous collision of rubber and concrete. My eyes couldn't take it anymore. Still speeding for our dear lives, he glances at his side mirror, breathing a sigh of relief.      "I think we've lost them." He nervously chuckled and continued to drive. I sighed from the inhaled air I was holding from the grand car chase ripped from a spy film. I glimpsed down to see my bag was still intact.     "OH f**k!" Mike shouted      Peering at the windshield seeing the same black car in front of us.     "MIKE DO SOMETHING!" I shouted as the distance between us and the car was getting nearer.     "I CAN'T HIT THE BRAKES, THEY MUST'VE DONE SOMETHING!"      We were both panicking, and Mike desperately turns the steering wheel but it feels like we were going straight to the car. The distance was getting nearer, I gripped my seat and closed my eyes as the car's lights were blinding me as well. I guess this is it. So this is how it'll end for my ordinary life. 5...4...3...2...1     A hand rested on my shoulder as I closed my eyes and accepted my death.     My body was stiff.      Am I dead?      I reluctantly opened my eyes we were in an alleyway that was just a small walk towards both of our hands.     "How-" Mike pulled me and he signaled me to just run in a shaky breath.      We scrambled to my house. Busting the door open, then slamming it shut. Locking every mechanism.       Mike dragged my body to the bedroom and shut the door. He stood near the door and leaned his ear on it. He was a panting mess, his hair was frizzy, his eyes were wide, and he had a sweat trail on his hoodie.      I sat on my bed and threw my bag on the side.      "What was that?" My heart still racing, and I'm still sweating. I gazed at him but he's still fixated on the door.     "I promise I'll explain everything but right now you have to rest up."      "Why not now?!"      He sat next to my bed and held my hand, I gotta say it was a bit comforting.      "Close your eyes" He commanded.     "Wh-"     "JUST DO IT!" His voice was stern but shaky.     I gulped and closed my eyes, he retreated his hand and a whoosh made me open my eyes.     He was gone.
