Eve wasn’t surprised when Kane let her work at the bar that night. She should have been in her hotel room drawing up plans, but she’d rather be here. She and Kane had hit a turning point today. The fact that he shared his apartment with her was a huge concession for him. Since they had left his apartment, he barely let her be more than a few feet away. Even now, he stood at the end of the bar watching the patrons, but she knew he was aware of her as well. He claimed it was to keep drunk idiots away from her, but she knew the truth. He wanted to be close to her the same as she wanted to be close to him.
