Chapter 13 Driving to the hospital was treacherous and I almost got into an accident myself trying to get there. The roads were a mess and I was a basket case. Normally, I didn’t have a problem driving in bad weather, but this night was far from normal. Deena had told me a driver lost control of his pickup and slid across multiple freeway lanes, clipping several cars on the way, before plowing into Darren while he was stranded on the shoulder waiting for the tow truck. Darren had been pinned inside of his Blazer and had to be extracted from the vehicle.
