My visits with Darren over the next two days went well. He seemed to be getting stronger each day and appeared to be on the mend. When I went to the hospital on the fifth day of his stay, one of the nurses was drawing blood from his arm and Deena was there. I put my arm around her shoulders and kissed her cheek before asking how she was doing. “Fine,” she said, but her expression said otherwise. She looked worried.
