Her First Day cont...

Here goes nothing....

Luke looks over to me as he puts his hand on my thigh. He smiles at me with his perfect smile causing me to feel instant butterflies in my stomach. I smile back as he says, " Baby, This is going to be some of the best years of our life. I'm excited. You already know, If you need anything I'm here for you." He lightly squeezes my thigh. I look at his hand and back at him. "Me and Aus are doing football. Casey is doing Theater, Jay is in Shop and thinking about football too. I think it would be cool if you found something. Ya know? Keep you busy, have fun?" He holds my hand. He's right, maybe yearbook? I'm not sure yet but I think I'm going to figure it out. He lightly shakes my hand and says, "Look Baby, we are here. I look away from him and see the High school campus. Holy s**t. We have arrived.

He pulls into the parking lot and chooses a spot towards the back of the lot. We park next to a tree. I am observing my surroundings from the safety of the car. Luke gets out of the car and opens my door. Oh boy, I suppose I do have to leave the car at some point. As I step out Luke says, "We still have like 20 minutes. I figured some time together before school starts would be good for both of us. Chill time. We should make this a thing with us and the guys." I smile, "That's a good idea. Agreed." Luke smiles back and hugs me. He tilts my chin up and kisses me softly then picks me up and sets me on the trunk of his car. He puts his hands in his pant pockets and looks down as he says, "Baby, I wanted to tell you something over summer break but I kinda got nervous. I kept putting it off. I-" He searches his pockets and continues, "Wait where's... um... my phone? Oh, um... I think it's in the car. Sorry. One sec beautiful." He walks towards the driver side door and gets in. I look away from him and observe my surroundings. This high school is definitely bigger than my private middle school. It's a little intimidating. The parking lot is half full with high school students. I laugh as I say, "Sweetheart... if your head wasn't attached you'd lose it. Want me to call it?" With a playful tone, Luke replies, "Yes Mom." We laugh as I call his phone. I hear his phone in the trunk, "Babe, your trunk is ringing." He laughs and says, "Oh yeah. I set it down back there when I was at your place because I was making sure I had my gym bag. I'll get it in a second. Hang on." I close my eyes for a moment to take everything in. This was interrupted by a hand grabbing my thigh. I thought it was Luke until I heard an unfamiliar guy say, "Damn shorty. You gotta be new. There's no way I wouldn't have noticed someone as hot as you." My eyes shot open as I quickly slapped the hand away. I saw 3 guys. The one who grabbed my leg had red hair with Hazel eyes. All 3 were wearing letter jackets. With a cocky grin the red head said, "Names Brett. I'm a senior. These are my dudes, Mike and Devin. They are seniors too. What grade are you? What's your name Baby." I didn't even attempt to hide my attitude and look of disgust and annoyance. I hear the car door slam behind me as Luke walks towards me. He looks Ginger creep dead in his eyes and says, "Her name is none of your business. f**k off." I hear a low growl as he finishes his sentence. Ginger boy gives Luke a snide look and says, "Mind your business ass hat." I touch Luke's arm as he steps up to Ginger boy. His skin is warm, like really warm. Almost hot to the touch. I keep my hand on his arm as Luke says, "Listen 'ass hat' her business is my business. She's my girlfriend. We're going to have problems if you don't walk away and leave her alone." I let out a small giggle, Even as a freshman Luke is much taller than Brett. Devin cuts in and says, "The f**k you gonna do. You're outnumbered. If you know what's good for you, I'd apologize to my boy and get lost." I hear a familiar laugh, it's Austyn. Austyn and the guys walk from behind me and stand in front of me. Austyn touches Luke's shoulder and says, "Now He's not. Even if we weren't here he would be fine." Aus quietly tells Luke, "Bro chill, you're going to shift." I looked at them both... shift? Like fight them? What's shift? Casey steps forward and says, "Run along kids." Brett is obviously pissed. As he walks away he says, "No one turns Brett down." I smirk and say, "Bye Ass hat. It was not nice to meet you." Luke looks like he wants to kill Brett. The guys notice. Jay takes a step back and laughs while playfully punching Luke in the arm as he says, "Making friends already bro?" Luke shakes his head. Casey and Jay start talking with Luke as Aus walks over to me and picks me up to give me up to give me a big hug. While hugging me he says, "You good short stack?" I look at him to answer and I notice that his eyes are a totally different color. They are dark blue, not his normal eye color. Am I seeing things? I feel chills moving throughout my body. We are staring at each other. I feel like we are in a trance which was swiftly broken by Luke clearing his throat and saying, "Baby, are you okay?" I nod. He turns to Aus and says, "If you're done eye f*****g my girl..." I grab his hand and stand next to him. Luke kisses the top of my head. Jay leans on Luke's car and asks, "So what happened with ass hat?" I tell the guys what happened before they came, it wasn't much to tell... just some d**k being handsy and creepy. The guys listen and I notice Luke just staring at me. We start looking at each other.

We are interrupted as the bell rings. Casey perks up and says, "Let's go guys! This is so exciting. Come on slow pokes." We head towards the building. The nervousness starts to fade in to excitement as we enter the doors to the school. A lot of people are hustling and getting to classes and wherever they need to be.We all look at our schedules one more time. Luke puts his arm around my shoulder and says, "We have lunch and last period together. It's a study hall. I'll see you later Baby." He kisses me before walking away and says, "We got this guys. See you at Lunch." Jay quickly looks at his schedule then up and Luke, he runs after him while saying, "Bro wait, we got first period together." He catches up and playfully shoulder checks Luke. Luke barely fliches but returns the shoulder check with a light shove they laugh as they turn the corner. I laugh to myself. Casey leans on my shoulder while looking at his schedule. He stands straight and pats my head as he says, "See ya at lunch short stack." I furrow my brow and said goodbye to him and wished him luck. I thought Aus was still standing with me. He snuck away before I could ask him about the eye color thing but we have first period together, I can ask him there.

I have a few minutes left, so I head to my locker, which is by my first class. I shouldn't be late. While at my locker I think about that moment with Aus. He's cute so that could maybe explain why it felt like a trance? Maybe? And the chills? But the eye color? What the hell. "Maybe I'm just tired." I realized I said that out loud when I heard Austyn's voice reply, "You should get more sleep short stack." Aus finishes his sentence by smoothly leaning on the locker next to mine. I stare at him and tilt my head. His eyes are back to brown. I blankly stare. I'm confused. I raise my eyebrow as I say, "Let's go. We don't want to be late." We walk to class together. I look at him a few more times but he doesn't notice.

We get to class and see our teacher sitting at the desk. She is an attractive middle aged blonde woman. She greets us with a friendly smile and walks towards us. She stops in her tracks and stares at us. Aus and I look at eachother then back at her. She abruptly says, "Oops. My apologies. My name is Mrs. V. I didn't mean to stare. You both have very captivating eyes. Such beautiful shades of blue." Wait, what? I look confused as I say, "Um... our eyes are brown. Nice to meet you though. I'm Mercedes, this is Austyn. " She looks surprised. She motions towards the desks and says, "Very nice to meet you both. Sit wherever you want." Austyn smiles as we choose our seats. Class begins. What is going on? This is weird.

While in class I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket. I wasn't going to look because we weren't allowed to use our phones during class. Austyn quietly got my attention and gestured towards his phone. He must have sent me something. I opened the text from him, "Question, so this is weird right? Uh... Your eyes were really blue when we hugged. I thought you were wearing contacts or something but when we were walking in they weren't blue. They aren't blue now. But Mrs. V complimented our blue eyes. I'm lost. What is happening?" He's lost? So am I. I reply, "I have no idea. I'm confused too. Your eyes were also blue. I was trying to not think about it but she said something." I sent the text. Aus read it and looked at me and just shrugged. The rest of the day went by pretty well. I hung out with the guys at lunch and went to classes. I was a little distracted with the blue eyes thing but I had no issues. Luckily I didn't see Brett or his minions again. Idiots...

Luke and I made plans to skip last period and go to his house. He said he just needed to be with me. I understood what he wanted. I wanted to be with him too. He would be home alone till after 4pm and I want some play time with me boyfriend...
