Cheng dismounted his horse and strode into the castle, his boots echoing off the stone floor. He made his way straight to his mother's chambers, his heart heavy with anticipation. As he entered, Maltida turned to him, her eyes flashing with anger. "Cheng, what did you do? Why did you go against my orders? You know what will happen if you save her, don't you?" Cheng stood his ground, his expression calm. "Mom, I think she's too young to die. I couldn't just leave her like that." Maltida's face turned red with rage. "Really? You think she's too young to die? Fine. Go in there and tell your brother what you've done, so he can prepare for war." Cheng's eyes followed her gaze to the bed, where Adelaide lay sleeping soundly. He felt a pang of relief wash over him, and he sighed softly. Tatiana saw Cheng and ran to him, excitement etched on her face. "How is she? Were you able to do it?" "Yeah, she's fine now," Cheng replied, his expression serious. "You can go and check on her. I just need to see my brother. I know he'll be mad at me now." Tatiana's face fell. "I don't know the way to your mom's chamber." Cheng's patience was wearing thin. "Then you should wait for her at the slave chamber. I have other things to do." He snapped and walked away, leaving Tatiana looking concerned. As Tatiana turned to leave, she bumped into a tall figure. Looking up, she saw Lucifer's piercing gaze and felt her heart skip a beat. Lucifer walked away without a word, and Tatiana breathed a sigh of relief. Meanwhile, Cheng entered Lucifer's chamber, but he wasn't there. Just as he was about to leave, Lucifer appeared behind him. "Hey, kiddo, what's wrong? You look worried," Lucifer asked, his voice laced with amusement. Cheng hesitated, knowing he was in trouble. "Brother, promise you'll help me out if you find out what I did." Lucifer's expression turned serious. "Look like you did something wrong. What was it? Speak, you know I'll always help you." Cheng took a deep breath. "I went to save the spirit of Adelaide from a witch and—" Lucifer cut him off, his voice rising in anger. "You did what? You know what it means, right? Listen, I'm not going to fight a war for a common slave. You put the hit out, then go and complete it. You're a wizard, right? You can fight a witch. Go ahead, now get out!" Cheng tried to explain. "But please, I think I did the right thing. The witch didn't see my face, and I'm not sure she saw my face." Lucifer's expression turned incredulous. "Why are you acting childish, like you don't know what a witch can do? As a wizard—" Cheng swallowed hard. "You know what? Get me the girl you saved her life." Lucifer scoffed. "Don't tell me you're going to kill her before accepting to help me out?" Cheng's face fell. "Bring her to me," Lucifer half-yelled. "Okay," Cheng said, before going to call Adelaide. They both returned to Lucifer's chamber, where he demanded to know what had happened to her. Adelaide explained everything, including the witch's words: "You can't achieve your destiny." Lucifer's expression turned dark. "I need to test your blood." "Why did you want to test my blood?" Adelaide asked, her voice firm. "I wouldn't allow you." "If you don't agree, then you can leave," Lucifer replied, his voice cold. "No one will ever help you. I can't use my power for a frustrating slave." Lucifer picked up his cigarettes and commanded, "Get out." Adelaide walked out, feeling defeated. "Get ready for the war yourself," Lucifer told Cheng, as she walked away. "The girl does need help, so why do you help her?" "You scared her, that's why," Cheng responded, leaving without looking back. That night, Adelaide was sleeping when she was suddenly jolted awake by a familiar nightmare. She was sweating, her heart racing, and tears streaming down her face. "Who is this woman?" she muttered, her voice barely audible. Tatiana woke up to Adelaide's sobs. "Why are you crying? Is it the nightmare again?" she asked, concern etched on her face. Adelaide nodded, her eyes welling up with tears. "Why won't this woman just leave me alone? Why is she doing this?" Tatiana's expression was sympathetic. "Just accept Master Lucifer to test your blood maybe it might help you out." "Just accept it," Tatiana advised, her voice soft. The next day, Adelaide went to meet Cheng, who took her to Lucifer. "So, you're ready for me to test your blood," Lucifer asked, his voice devoid of emotion. Adelaide nodded, steeling herself for what was to come. Lucifer brought out a knife and cut her hand, collecting her blood in a red bowl. Adelaide's vision began to blur, and she passed out. FLASHBACK A little girl was crying, pleading with someone not to take her brother away. "Please don't take him away from me, Lucas come back, please!" she begged. A little boy was crying, trying to break free from the men holding him. "Delai, are you okay? Let me go! I don't want to be a monster!" he shouted. A huge man held the little girl, his voice firm. "Hey, little girl, you have to forget about Lucas because he's gone forever. He has to achieve his destiny for being what his father is. Take this," he said, touching the girl's head. The little girl lost consciousness, and the woman holding her cried out in despair. "I don't want her to know about this power she has until she grows up. Her father abandoned me and her, and I don't even know where she is now." The woman's voice was filled with worry as she looked at her daughter lying unconscious on the ground. "Delai," she called softly, as the little girl stirred. FLASH END "Cheng, is Delai...?" Lucifer's voice trailed off, his eyes welling up with tears. Cheng's eyes widened in shock. "Are you serious that this girl is Delai?" Cheng asked, looking surprised. "Yes," Lucifer replied, a smile spreading across his face as he kissed Adelaide's forehead. "Wow, a common slave is your mate and your childhood betrothed," Cheng teased. "She was not made to become a slave," Lucifer snapped, his expression darkening. "Now you're angry because I called her a slave, but you've been calling her that," Cheng pointed out, his voice laced with amusement. Lucifer's frown deepened. "What about the war? I'm fighting it alone, right?" Cheng mocked. "No, can you stop mocking me?" Lucifer yelled. "You didn't even thank me for saving her," Cheng scolded. "Thank you, but don't let her know she's my mate and her childhood betrothed. I don't want her to know yet. Since I found her, I wouldn't let her out of my sight. I'll do anything to protect her," Lucifer whispered to Cheng. "Yeah, but remember she said the woman in her dream said she has a power. Have you found out about it?" Cheng asked. "Even her mom said it," Lucifer replied. "Is her mom alive?" Cheng asked, and Adelaide suddenly woke up, breathing fast. "Calm down, just take a deep breath," Lucifer said, his voice soothing. Adelaide nodded, and Lucifer continued, "Don't worry, you'll be fine, okay?" Adelaide nodded, and Lucifer stood up from the bed. "I need to see you, Cheng," he said, and Cheng followed him out of the room. "I want you to prepare a room for her here in the castle. She's no longer a slave, and let everything be put in order. Make the room look like a queen's own, and make sure there's enough clothes in it," Lucifer instructed. Cheng nodded and walked away. Lucifer returned to Adelaide's side and watched her sleep. Later, Adelaide was taken to her new room, and she gasped in amazement. The room was beautiful, with lavish decorations and a stunning view. "Here is your new room. You will be staying here. You are no longer a slave," Cheng said with a smile. Adelaide's face lit up, and she screamed with excitement. She jumped on Cheng and hugged him tightly. "Thank you!" she exclaimed. "All thanks be to my brother. He was the one who asked for you to stop being a slave," Cheng said, chuckling. Adelaide smiled and jumped on the bed, rolling around in joy. "Enjoy your day," Cheng said, laughing as he walked out of the room. As Adelaide explored her new room, she walked to the wardrobe and gasped in amazement. There were countless dresses and outfits, all in her size. She couldn't believe her eyes.
