The CEO Awakening

Hospital. Beeping machines. The smell of antiseptic and fear. Adrian had been in a coma for 3 days. 3 days of me sleeping on the floor next to his bed, hand on my growing stomach, talking to our twins. “Daddy’s fighting,” I whispered to my bump. “He promised he’d live because I said I love him. Your daddy doesn’t break promises.” The door opened. Victor Romanov’s lawyer. Smug. “Mrs. Kane. My client may be dead, but his estate is claiming custody of the twins. Kane blood belongs to Romanov now.” I stood. 13 weeks pregnant. Done being scared. “Get out.” “Or what? You’ll shoot me too? You’re a murderer, little Lily. The board will never—” The machine flatlined. Then Adrian’s eyes snapped open. Black. Lethal. ALIVE. He ripped the IV out of his arm, sat up, and looked at the lawyer. “You,” his voice was gravel and death, “just threatened my wife and children.” The lawyer went white. “Mr. Kane, you were in a—” “I heard every word.” Adrian stood. 6’3” of bullet wounds and fury. He walked to me, pulled me against his uninjured side, hand splayed over our twins. “Now,” he told the lawyer. “Run. Tell Romanov’s estate that if they ever say my sons’ names again, I will burn their bloodline to the ground.” The lawyer ran. Then it was just us. “You came back,” I sobbed into his chest. “You said you love me.” His lips touched my hair. “I told you. Kane men don’t break promises.” His hand slid under my shirt, resting on bare skin. Over Gabriel. Over Damien. “Say it again, Lily.” “I love you, Adrian.” “Again.” “I love you, you ruthless, impossible, infuriating man.” He kissed me. Hospital bed, blood, bandages, and all. Like I was air. Like I was his. “We’re going home,” he said against my mouth. “All four of us.” And for the first time, home didn’t sound like a prison. It sounded like forever. --- **END OF PART 1** **PART 2: “The Twins’ Revenge” - UNLOCK WITH 50 COINS →** The twins are born. Victor’s brother comes for revenge.
