Chapter 8: The Kiss

The following day, Lea woke up to a lot of missed calls with her head pounding and not being able to recall what happened yesterday. She checked the time only to be shocked that it was already 12 in the afternoon. There were missed calls from Brandon, Avyanna, and Leon, but there were so many missed calls from Leon. She was still trying to regain her consciousness when her phone started ringing. “Morning Brandon, what is it?” Brandon was shocked. “Lea, it's 12 in the afternoon. Did you just wake up? What happened last night with Avyanna? Is she still with you?” Lea has been trying to get her head to think, but the hangover was dimming everything. “No, I am alone. Why are you calling me? I need to have coffee; my head feels big.” She was not a heavy drinker, but her immune system was weak. After talking to Brandon, there was a knock on her apartment door. She hadn’t taken a bath or brushed her teeth. Who could it be because only Brandon and Avyanna know her new apartment?She quickly went to brush her teeth and came back to see who was at the door. She was surprised to see Leon at her front door. “What are you doing here and who gave you my address?” Lea’s hair was messy, and she didn’t even bother if she was dressed properly; she was thinking it could be Avyanna. “I had to pay Avyanna to give me the address. Yesterday, you called me telling me how much you love me, and today you were not picking up my calls. I had to come and see you.” Leon was looking at Lea's pajama shorts, which looked like underwear and revealed her sexy eyes. “I don't know what you are talking about, and please leave. My boyfriend is on his way; he won't like it when he finds you here.” Lea was about to close the door when Leon stopped her. “You are the one who is planning to cheat on your boyfriend with me. You told me you love me, Lea, not me telling you.” Lea’s ears turned red, and she was so embarrassed because she doesn’t remember anything; now the missed calls explain everything.
"Leon, I was drunk. Can you leave now, please? You have a girlfriend. Go and visit her. What I did yesterday was a mistake. Sorry for giving you hope." Lea was still talking when Leon grabbed her and kissed her for a minute. When he realized what he had done, he left without saying anything. Lea wasn’t expecting that intense kiss. When she regained herself, Leon had already left. "You look like you just saw a ghost. Are you okay? I saw Leon’s car leaving. What did he want because he kept bothering me the whole morning?" Avyanna arrived carrying take-away bags. "Thank you, I am hungry. You are such a good friend to bring me food." Avyanna noticed that Lea was avoiding speaking to her. She followed her without saying anything.
Lea dished out the food. She was hungry from the drinking the night before. "Avyanna, Brandon’s birthday is coming up. We usually spend it in a club or on vacation, but this year, I am not sure what his plan is. I want to do something for him."
"Are you going to tell me why Leon was asking for your address and what he wanted at your place? Brandon's birthday can wait, but tell me why Shanice's boyfriend was here." With a smirk on her face, Avyanna wanted to know if Leon was interested in Lea. Lea started laughing. "Okay, I will tell you. I am interested in Leon, and I want you to help me." She was smiling when mentioning him, but Avyanna was not surprised at all. "It will be my pleasure to help you. I'm tired of Shanice and her behavior. Why was he here?" Avyanna loved the details; she wanted the reason why Leon had to pay her money for her to give him Lea's address. "He came to check up on me, but I chased him away. I was shocked when I saw him at my door."
Lea was scared to tell Avyanna about the kiss, not knowing how she was going to behave about it. They spent their afternoon indoors watching some chick flicks. Lea's phone was ringing. "Brandon, how are you?"
Brandon has been busy since he arrived. He was there for three days to buy a building for their Cape Town branch. “Lea, I need you to do me a favor. I have a meeting tomorrow with the lawyer Eleanor. Can you meet up with her on my behalf? It is important.” Lea knew the business with Eleanor; she couldn’t say no but asked Brandon to email her all the details. Avyanna soon left back to her home. Lea had been waiting for Leon to call or text, but she never received anything. Instead, she received a call from Triana who was checking up on her. Lea regretted confessing to Leon; it was going to be an awkward and long day at work.
