Chapter 9:Lea quit Langley Group

998 Words
It was Monday morning. Lea walked into the building hoping not to bump into Avyanna or Leon until the meeting Leon scheduled for the morning. Today, she wore a pencil dress that revealed all her curves, including the small waist she had. Her hair was tied in a bun with two strands of hair on the sides. Gorgeous as she looked today, her beauty was splendid and fascinating to look at. She bumped into Shanice at the reception, the last person she was expecting to see, and she was shocked to see her there so early. She greeted the receptionist and passed Shanice as if she were invisible and didn’t exist in the universe. “Good morning, Miss White. I would like to apologize for my behavior; you look stunning today,” Shanice said. Lea was surprised by the sudden change. “Apology accepted, and thank you. I have a busy morning; can I be excused?” Lea went to her office. She always felt like her office was not up to her standards. She had talked to Triana about making small changes. Brandon insisted on helping her when he comes back. She was still setting up when there was a knock on her office door. Before she could respond, Avyanna had invited herself in. “Lea, I brought…” Before she could finish, she was taken aback by Lea’s beauty today. “Can you be my brother’s wife because this beauty deserves someone who can afford to maintain it. I brought you cappuccino,” Lea was laughing. “You’re really something else, Avyanna. You know how to make a person laugh. Today, I’m met with surprises. Can you believe that Shanice apologized and even told me I look stunning today?” Avyanna was laughing loudly when Triana came in. “What’s so funny that you’re laughing like this?” “Can you believe Mrs. Langley apologized and complimented Lea? You should have told her that you were with her boyfriend on Saturday.” Lea didn’t want Triana to know about what happened on Saturday, but Avyanna spilled the beans. “I want to know more about this. We will talk after the meeting. See you at the boardroom.” Triana left Avyanna and Lea to prepare for the meeting. Lea and Avyanna walked into the boardroom, 5 minutes late. They were busy when they realized they had forgotten about the meeting. Lea was in front when her eyes met Leon’s eyes. “Sorry, I got caught up at work that I missed the time.” “In this company, we take our work ethic and professionalism more seriously than everything. People gather in the boardroom five minutes before the meeting, not five minutes after. We are not running a club but a company.” Lea has never experienced such rudeness and embarrassment from a person. “Leon Langley, she apologized, no need to be rude. It’s not like we missed an important headline. Besides, two managers are not here yet, but you’re chopping off a poor child’s head.” Avyanna spoke while going to take her chair without even thinking about what Leon will say. “Avyanna, see me in my office after the meeting for a first warning. You have been very disrespectful towards everyone and you don’t respect your colleagues.” Triana was confused about what to say to Leon.“If those colleagues are assholes like your girlfriend, what do you want me to do? I didn’t get the job because I am sleeping with my boss, but because of my intellect and skills. Mr. Langley, if you can separate business and personal stuff, I will help you with that. Can we begin the meeting?” Lea wanted to tell Avyanna to stop before she loses her job, but Avyanna was stubborn. “You have been suspended. Leave the boardroom now, Avyanna.” Everyone in the boardroom was shocked by the turn of events. There was a knock at the door. She walked in because she was told it’s urgent. “Miss Lea, Eleanor the lawyer is here to see you.” Lea didn’t know what to do because she is stuck in the meeting that has not even begun. “Lea, lend me your lawyer. I will keep her busy while you finish up. We will be discussing my suspension and nepotism.” Avyanna stood up and left. Triana was disappointed in Leon. Leon wanted to embarrass Lea, but things got out of hand. “Before the meeting can begin, I would like to apologize on behalf of Avyanna for her behavior. Mr. Langley, I hope you don’t suspend her. As for me, I quit. Thank you for the opportunity, Triana. Have a productive day.” Lea left the boardroom without saying anything. Her dignity and reputation meant a lot to her than being disrespected. Avyanna was in Lea’s office with Eleanor, and they had been getting along. “Sorry for keeping you waiting. Can we go and have a meeting at a different place? I have quit this job.” Avyanna was shocked; she never expected Lea to be this brave. They were leaving when they met up with Triana. “Lea and Avyanna, we need to talk. You can’t leave now.” “Avyanna can stay, Triana, but as for me, I have made up my mind. Besides, I have an important meeting to attend. It was great working with you. We will be in touch.” Lea walked, not regretting what she had just done because she was the CEO of Exquisite; even she had never disrespected her colleagues like that. Eleanor was shocked by the event that took place. Avyanna stayed behind because she enjoyed working with Triana and loved her job, but she was worried about Lea. Lea never went back to her new apartment; instead, she went to her mansion to continue running her business. They were now preparing for the launch of the Cape Town branch.
