Chapter 6:The warning

986 Words
Lea got the job at Langley Co-operation as the new manager, and she is currently the boss of Shanice and other consultants. It was her first day at the office when she was welcomed by Avyanna and Triana, who were already fond of her. Lea had to change her whole lifestyle so that she would not get caught up in her lie. She moved out of her mansion and rented a one-bedroom apartment, changed her whole wardrobe to simple clothing instead of designer brands, and started shopping at stores that everyone goes to. She decided to stick to her Audi, which was a bit old and simple, unlike her other two cars, a Mercedes Benz and a Range Rover. She was dressed simply yet classy. Triana went to introduce Lea to the consultants. They walked as Triana started speaking, and Shanice walked in carrying a new designer handbag and shoes. “Sorry, Triana, I am late. Leo fetched me today, and he was late, so I couldn’t take a cab.” Triana looked at Shanice and did not respond. She continued to introduce Lea. Lea was about to give a speech when Shanice interrupted her. “We already know that you are beautiful and intelligent, but please leave our man, especially my boyfriend. He doesn’t fancy you.” Avyanna was heard laughing. “If you knew how ugly you are, you wouldn’t be speaking. Shanice, you are here because of Leon, but if it were up to me, I would have fired you because you are useless in this company. Try to be human, then learn from your colleagues; such a life doesn’t last forever. Believe me, if I were interested in Leon, you would be long gone by now, so don’t think you are the President here.” Triana and Lea looked at Avyanna as she walked out of the office, but before she could leave, she had to say her last words. “Girl, that makeup you applied today makes you look like my granny, but it’s a shame my granny is more beautiful than you will ever be.” Leon walked in while Avyanna was walking out. “Leon, it is time you tame that little b***h of yours because I will sooner or later.” When Shanice saw Leon, she ran to him crying. “Baby, Avyanna insulted and embarrassed me in front of my colleagues, saying I am useless and you will never marry me.” Lea was trying to compose herself but she couldn’t stop laughing. “You need to tell your girlfriend to be professional because sooner or later I will let her go, and you know I have that power if I report her to Mr. Nathan. So, Leo, teach your girlfriend some manners and respect. Ladies and gentlemen, the meeting is adjourned. From now on, you report to Miss White.” Triana left Lea, leaving Leon shocked by what Triana said. Shanice’s behavior is straining Leon, and he is now fed up with everyone complaining. He looked at her and left without even saying anything to her. Shanice knew she had messed up if Leon couldn’t even stand up for her. Leon respected Triana; he needed to apologize to her and Lea, but she never liked it when he made those apologies on behalf of his girlfriend. Lea was at her new office. It was hard to get used to because the one at Exquisite was spacious with everything she wanted, even a small room to rest when she was tired. The interior wasn’t warm or calming; it was dull. She was explaining to Brandon how everything was boring with the new office. There was a knock, “You can come in.” She placed her phone aside and pretended like she was working. “Hi Lea, can I talk to you?” Leon said, pulling the chair to sit across the table. “How can I help you, Mr. Langley?” Lea was smiling, calling him with respect. “Please call me Leon. I am here to apologize for what happened today. Triana has told me everything. She issued Shanice a warning for her behavior.” “I thought she was supposed to apologize herself, not you. Why do you love her so much?” Lea asked. “I don’t know, she was different from when I met her, but now she is way above me and ruining everything I’m building.” Lea was shocked to learn that Shanice was a different person. “Love is blind, but I hope you will make her understand that respect is something you earn, not given. Can I go back to my work, Mr. Langley?” Lea wasn’t expecting Leon to come on behalf of Shanice but to check up on her. He never congratulated her on the new job, neither did he welcome her. He was giving him another behavior she couldn’t understand, and that broke her heart. He stood up and left without saying anything. Leon wanted to talk more with Lea, but he was scared that Lea already had a boyfriend, and Avyanna confirmed it without Lea denying that Brandon wasn’t her boyfriend. Avyanna was coming to see Lea when she saw Leon coming out of her office with a disappointed face. “She is beautiful, smart, and intelligent, something your girlfriend lacks, but she has a boyfriend, and that guy is handsome, especially his eyes are beautiful.” Leon never heard Avyanna praising a man before. “Do you like Lea’s boyfriend, Avyanna? Didn’t you say relationships are a lot of work?” Avyanna has never had a boyfriend in her life. She never met a man that can give her the love she wanted. She looked at her brother having multiple girlfriends and cheating on them. “I was telling you to forget about her; she will never leave her boyfriend for you.”
