Chapter 5:

1300 Words
From Makia's POV: As we arrived at the palace, the guards took their injured comrades for treatment, but I didn't need any treatment. "Your Highness, I will bring some herbs," one of my armies said, and I frowned before pushing him away. "Do you think I got injured by that cowardly wolf? It was just a mistake, and I got a slight cut...I don't need any herbs." This was bad news for my father, but I had to explain what happened there before someone else did. I had to save my honor because it was known that I was the most powerful wolf in the kingdom. But what would happen if news about this mysterious wolf got out? "Father," I bowed at the king who sat in his throne room. He glared at my arm, and his eyes darkened. "You got hurt?" His tone was surprising as we went to fight such a small kingdom. No one there was a match for me. "We ran into some trouble, and I got injured with an immobile sword," I had to justify how I got injured. I wasn't hurt by that wolf. "So where is the alpha of the kingdom? Did you kill him?" he asked, and I swallowed hard. Most of my armies were injured, and after we encountered that wolf, we couldn't go further as everyone was injured. I stared down, embarrassed, and I could feel the tension in the room grow high. "You loser, you couldn't conquer such a small kingdom, and you dream of becoming the alpha of this great pact," his tone was harsh and full of criticism. "I will go back for them," I said, embarrassed, and he sneered. "What happened exactly?" he knew something was off. He was not the king for nothing. "Speak up," his tone became sharp and angrier, so I had to man up. "A huge silver wolf showed up and defended the kingdom," I blurted with sweat forming on my forehead. "What? He defeated all my armies?" Now that he asked, I finally understood that the wolf was not ordinary. How was he able to defeat highly trained wolves with so much ease? "Yes," I nodded, and he laughed sarcastically. "That's impossible. Are you trying to cover up for your foolishness...huh?" "That's the truth, Father," I said, standing my ground. Before leaving, he said, "Make sure to conquer the kingdom." I stood there alone with my thoughts, feeling a sense of unease. The Silver wolf who saved that kingdom seemed to have a personal problem with me, but I couldn't think of any Silver wolf apart from my father, the king, and the late king. Silver wolves were the strongest, before the white and black wolves. How could there be a third Silver wolf? Doubts filled my mind. Could it be Clovis? I quickly dismissed the thought. Clovis was a useless wolf who couldn't even wolf out. Even if he could, he wouldn't be stronger than me, who had undergone rigorous training. Despite my doubts, I decided to check on Clovis. I ignored the pain in my arm and rode my horse as fast as I could to his mansion. I had to find out if that useless prince had finally wolfed out. As I arrived, I saw his guards standing by the gate. "Your Highness," they respectfully bowed. I sneered, knowing that Clovis was not as powerful as I was, and his servants were afraid of me. I parked my horse and walked towards the door, where I bumped into Clovis. "Makia," he called out with a serious tone. I took a good look at him. He was dressed in clean, comfortable attire and looked calm, as though he hadn't just come back from war, he could not be the silver wolf I just encountered. "I came to see my sister-in-law," I said with a smile, trying to hide my suspicion. "You should leave," he replied harshly. I scoffed at his pride, knowing he couldn't be a real wolf. "Why? I heard you got married to Jackie Heart. Congrats on getting the prettiest," I complimented Jackie, the prettiest wolf in the kingdom. I was surprised when my father arranged their wedding. Clovis had a mocking smile on his face as his gaze stopped at my arms. "What happened? Did your fangs get your arm?" he taunted me. "I got injured while training," I said, feeling embarrassed and angry at the same time. "Next time, don't train in dangerous places or allow your men to throw sharp objects around. You might fall on one next time," he said, staring deep into my eyes. His gaze was intense, and I started to doubt if he was just a lone wolf who spent all his time in his mansion. I clenched my fist angrily and hurried towards my horse, I knew Clovis wasn’t simple and I must prove that, while going out of the gate I saw a luxurious carriage ride in but I ignored it and rode away. From Clovis’s POV: I was about to return inside when I noticed the carriage, I had a huge frown on my face but decided not to let it show. A lady walked down dressed classily and also had some bodyguards. She was back so soon? “Clovis” she called out with a frown as she approached me. “How could you play me? Everyone hated you for being useless but I was always by your side…so how could you get married?” her tone was bitter as tears threatened to rush down her cheeks. “Was I not supposed to be married?” I asked and feigned not to understand what she meant. “You know what I mean, you used me and made me believe that you liked me. But I leave the kingdom for two days and on my return you are already married” Ria scolded, she was the daughter of one of the strong werewolves in the kingdom who were also in control of power. I once manipulated her as I needed some information, but I had no plans of marrying a lady with such a bad character and giving her the chance to jeopardize my life plans. “It is my honeymoon, you should leave,” I said without blinking and her tears finally rushed down, she took a few steps toward me. “Please, I don’t care if you can't wolf out or if you don’t have any tone when it comes to royalty. I love you for who you are, do I deserve such treatment?” her tone was bitter. I had to admit that I shouldn’t have used her, but her father and my uncle were both bound to crush on everyone weak. I only needed her as my spy but now I don’t need her anymore as I got my men to work there as guards. “Welcome back home, Derick” I called and he walked towards us, he glared at Ria with a pitiful look and this made me sigh, Ria is not as calm and innocent lady as she portrays, I know her type. “I will leave, but I wish for an encounter with your wife… let's see who deserves you more,” she said in a threatening tone before walking back to her carriage. “I thought you liked her,” Derick said, I glared at him before turning to leave. “Your Highness, the neighboring kingdom Venirs is in chaos as they have no horses and food to survive” he explained and this made me angry, my uncle was bound to let all the small neighboring kingdoms suffer and come to him with pitiful looks. This powerful royal monarchy needs to be destroyed as soon as possible.
