Lifting her face, she smoothed the dress over her hips and stepped toward the door, brushed her hair which wasn't too difficult, She would face him. She would play his game. And when the time was right, she would win. Minutes later, she stepped out of her room looking so charming and breathtaking even without makeup. The dining room was massive—an expanse of dark wood, gold accents, and power. The cold night of the air hit her, and for the first time she felt hope. She hid under a table waiting for the event to dismiss so that she could be able to slip into the crowd unoticed A strong knock hit the table, alerting her but she kept mute, Kayla swallowed hard, forcing herself to remain calm even as her pulse thundered in her ears. “Oh my gosh you must think that I must be a fool right - that was Derricks voice Come out now at the count of five, one, two, Three….. He raised the table up and grabbed Kayla she screamed. Kicked, Her breadth caught as she met Derricks furious gaze. “You will never, learn do you?” He growled Kayla glared at him, refusing to show fear. “You can't keep me forever”. Derrick leaned in, his body pressing against hers. “I don't need forever pretty one. Just long enough for you to realize there's no escape”. Her heart pounded. “Go to hell “ He smirked. “Darling, I own hell”. Then before she could react, his lips crashed against hers. It wasn't soft, neither was it gentle. It was war, And when he pulled away leaving her breathless, he whispered the words that sealed her fate. He was threatening her with something far worse. And the worst part? A part of her wondered if she wanted to be caught all over again.
