Kayla exhaled deeply trying to figure out how she could begin her journey to freedom by learning his world first, She couldn't afford to lose this time. She had played the role of an obedient daughter for years, agreeing to all her father Manipulative Ideas, and where that had gotten her, Sold. Betrayed. And for God's sake she is trapped in a Mafia Lord's world. If she was going to survive this, she had to be smart. She started mapping out how she was going to achieve her goals but one problem she had was Derrick. He wasn't giving her the permission to move about the Mansion. She couldn't let her emotions rule her, so that she would be able to impress and gain freedom of movement from Derrick. She swore to find his weakness. His secrets. And when the time was right she would strike him in a very hard way. But first, she needed to understand him-Why he was obsessed with her, “what did he really want from her?” She wasn't naive enough to believe this was about possession. No! There was something more. Something deeper. And she was going to find out what it was, she walked to the door and tested the handle. Locked of course. Just then the door creaked open, What! “Who is that?” Derrick stepped in, his eyes darkened, he took a slow step closer, forcing her against the cold stone wall. “Let's make a deal”, he murmured. Kayla frowned “A deal?”. Derrick’s gaze never wavered “ You hate being a prisoner, You hate being locked up. Then I have something that might interest you. Kayla jerked at those words “What could that be?”. Prove you can be trusted, and I’ll grant you more freedom, you behave, you get the credits by gaining privileges. Then if you try to escape again……. “His fingers brushed her hair lightly, a word of threat. There will be consequences. Kayla scoffed. “And if I refuse?” A slow, dangerous smirk appeared his face. “Then I’ll have no reason to hold you back”, A shiver ran down her spine. Derrick leaned in, so close she could feel his breath, “Do we have a deal”, pretty one. Kayla clenched her fists, if she refused, he would tighten his grip but if she agreed, maybe - she could find a real way out. “Fine”, she whispered. “We have a deal”. Derrick smiled, and with that he left, but something told her she had just walked into the devil’s cage. Derrick kept his word - at least partially. She was no longer locked up inside her room, she could move around the mansion, visit the study but never left the guarded walls and there was a room she was forbidded from entering, but she swore to know what the problem was. But she was still being watched, Always. It didn't matter if she was in garden, the grand hallways or the dining room - there were fixed eyes on her. Always. But then, she found out that the reason behind Derrick not letting her to leave the walls of the mansion was because she was trapped in Derrick's underground world - that marveled her because the possibilities of leaving this place wasn't an easy one. Kayla stood in her room balcony, thinking about how messed her life had become of late - her world had been filled with love, laughter, and dreams of a future with George. Having her own family with George was all she could ask for, but now everything she had worked hard for came crashing, all because of Derrick. Derrick entered, his presence sucking the air from space, which annoyed Kayla because he was the reason for her problems. He walked slowly and deliberately, which alerted Kayla. “I see someone is enjoying her little privilege. I guess all thanks to me Kayla glared at him angrily Are you breaking the deal already She studied him briefly. “ And why are you asking me such questions? His lips twitched “ because I enjoy watching you try to unravel mysteries. She clenched her fists You are so… Derrick chuckled, leaning closer “And you pretty one, are unpredictable Kayla hated the way her breath hitched. But Derrick never looked away. His gaze burning into hers, promising her things he was not ready to face. He stepped more closer brushing her chin. “You’re already thinking of running,” his voice was quiet, but there was no mistaking the edge beneath it. She forced herself to breathe, her fingers tightening on the railing before she finally turned to face him. He stood near the doorway, sleeves rolled up, exposing his forearms—strong, inked, lethal. The top buttons of his black shirt were undone, revealing just a hint of the skin beneath. Her pulse betrayed her. “I’m not running,” she said, keeping her voice steady. “I just... don’t know where to start.” A smirk tugged at the corner of his lips as he took a step closer. “Then allow me to give you a lesson.” Her throat went dry as he closed the distance between them. “What do you want?” she asked, not breaking eye contact. His fingers brushed the edge of the balcony door as he tilted his head, studying her. “What do I want?” His voice dipped lower, almost teasing. “I already have it.” Tension crackled between them. The air felt too thick, her space to o small. She hated the way her body responded. She should step back. But she didn’t. And neither did he
