Episode 5:The Billionaire Secret

Lena’s POV) The morning air felt heavy as I walked through the revolving doors of Blackwood Enterprises. The building towered above the city, all sleek glass and steel, a symbol of power and wealth. I tilted my head back, taking in the grandeur, feeling like an ant in comparison. “Come on, Lena,” I muttered under my breath. “You’ve got this.” I had agreed to meet Alexander here to finalize the details of our arrangement. I’d told myself it was just business. No big deal. But standing in front of this corporate giant made me feel like I’d just stepped into a whole different world. Inside, the lobby was just as intimidating. Marble floors gleamed under the fluorescent lights, and well-dressed people moved with purpose. The scent of expensive cologne lingered in the air. “Excuse me, Miss?” I turned to see a smiling receptionist. “I’m here to see Alexander Blackwood,” I said, my voice steadier than I felt. The receptionist’s smile faltered slightly, her eyes widening. “Mr. Blackwood? Of course. Please, follow me.” She led me through a maze of corridors until we reached a private elevator. As the doors slid shut, the reality of my situation hit me. I married a man I barely know. The elevator dinged softly, and the doors opened to reveal a sprawling office. Floor-to-ceiling windows offered a breathtaking view of the city skyline. Sleek furniture and modern art pieces filled the space, but it was the man standing by the window that commanded my attention. Alexander turned as I stepped inside, his expression unreadable. “You made it,” he said. “Yeah,” I replied, feeling awkward under his gaze. He gestured for me to sit, and I sank into a plush leather chair. “So, this is your kingdom,” I said, trying to break the tension. He smirked. “Something like that.” I glanced around, taking in the sheer luxury of his office. “Why didn’t you tell me?” “Tell you what?” “That you’re this Alexander Blackwood.” I gestured to the room around us. “The billionaire CEO. The guy who owns half the city.” His gaze softened slightly. “I wasn’t hiding it. You just never asked.” I blinked, stunned by his nonchalant tone. “You could’ve mentioned it.” “Would it have changed anything?” I opened my mouth to argue, then paused. Would it have? Would knowing his wealth and power have stopped me from agreeing to this ridiculous marriage? Probably not. Still, it was overwhelming to process. “I don’t belong in this world,” I said quietly, more to myself than to him. Alexander crossed the room and sat across from me, his eyes never leaving mine. “You’re here now.” “I didn’t sign up to be some billionaire’s fake wife,” I whispered, my voice trembling. “And I didn’t expect to marry a woman who throws wine on strangers,” he countered, a hint of amusement in his voice. Despite myself, I let out a soft laugh. “Touché.” We sat in silence for a moment before he spoke again. “I need you to understand something, Lena. This isn’t about money or power. It’s about freedom for both of us.” I looked at him, searching for any sign of insincerity, but all I saw was a man who carried the weight of his family’s expectations on his shoulders. “Okay,” I said finally. “I’ll honor our deal.” His lips curved into a small smile. “Good.” But as I sat there, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was stepping into something far more complicated than I’d anticipated. Later that afternoon, I found myself scrolling through articles about Alexander Blackwood. “The Enigmatic CEO of Blackwood Enterprises.” “The Reluctant Billionaire: Alexander Blackwood’s Rise to Power.” The more I read, the more overwhelmed I felt. His empire was massive real estate, tech companies, luxury brands. He wasn’t just wealthy. He was untouchable. No wonder his mother was so desperate to see him married off. He wasn’t just a man; he was a legacy. I clicked on another article, my heart pounding as I scanned the headline. “The Most Eligible Bachelor in America… But Not for Long?” It was accompanied by a photo of Alexander at a charity event, his arm around a stunning blonde. The caption read: “Rumors swirl that Blackwood is close to settling down.” My stomach twisted. What had I gotten myself into? The door to my apartment swung open, and Noah walked in, a bag of takeout in hand. “Hey,” he called. “Brought dinner.” I barely acknowledged him, my eyes glued to the screen. “What’s got you so” He paused, peering over my shoulder. “Oh. Researching the new husband?” I sighed, closing the laptop. “Something like that.” Noah sat across from me, opening the takeout containers. “You okay?” I shook my head. “I don’t know, Noah. I agreed to this crazy marriage, and now I’m realizing I have no idea who I’ve married.” “Well,” he said, taking a bite of his noodles, “from what I’ve read, he’s loaded. And hot. So, you could do worse.” I shot him a glare. “Not helping.” Noah shrugged. “Look, Lena. You’re smart. You’re strong. And if anyone can handle being married to a billionaire, it’s you.” His words gave me a small boost of confidence, but the nagging doubt lingered. The next morning, I stood in front of the mirror, adjusting the necklace Alexander had sent over. It sparkled in the light, a reminder of the life I was stepping into. My phone buzzed, and I saw a message from him. Xander: Ready for our first public appearance? Taking a deep breath, I replied. Me: Let’s do this. As I left my apartment, one thought echoed in my mind. What have I gotten myself into?
