I KEEP MY BLINDS SHUT for the next few days and thankfully, I don’t hear anything from Brett. Probably because I don’t leave my room much. I’m so entrenched in creating an automated program for a client, that I lose track of time. I’m buried deep into my work that it takes several beats before it sinks in that there’s a pounding on my door. I blink a few times, coming back to the real world, before I get up to open the door. Jolie comes in, looks me over and makes an impatient sound with her mouth. “You look like hell frozen over,” she says. “Thanks,” I reply dryly, returning to my seat and my work. Jolie immediately moves to jerk the blinds up and then pull up the windowsill. “What the heck have you been doing in here? The air is so stale!” I grunt in reply, still typing fiercely. “
