7 Julie wanders the halls of the Factory. Now that her arm is normal again, she’s hungry and could use some coffee. She finds the cafeteria on Level Three. (“Try the cinnamon buns,” Dr. Tognocci advises her. “They only make them there.”) Julie orders a slice of cheese pizza, a cinnamon bun as wide as her hand, and a cup of black coffee that smells slightly acidic to her nose, but Dr. Tognocci warned her that was the effect of the shot. “The sugar will clear you out soon,” she told her back in the infirmary. “Seems to reset the nerves.” Julie carries her tray to the end of a long empty table and digs in, savoring the bready texture of the pizza. “Me again,” Dr. Tognocci says.
