The interviewer asked:
“Did Adrian make you successful?”
Mia smiled.
“No.”
“Then what did he do?”
“He annoyed me into believing in myself.”
Adrian watched the interview from home.
He laughed.
Then replayed the answer three times.
Marco walked in.
“You’re smiling.”
“Leave.”
“You’re in love.”
“I know.”

Success brought pressure.
Mia was constantly working.
Adrian was constantly traveling.
They began missing dinners.
Then anniversaries.
Then important conversations.
One night, Mia snapped.
“I don’t want a marriage where we’re both too busy to be together.”
Adrian replied:
“I don’t want to be the reason you give up your dreams.”
“And I don’t want you to disappear into yours.”
Silence.
They realized they had returned to the same fear.
