Kelson’s P.O.V
“Bimp, bimp, bimp, bimp, bimp!” The alarm in the room sounded. I could feel the annoyance within me just from hearing it, but I couldn’t bring myself to open my eyes because the moment I did, everything would be finished.
“Aah,” I sighed as I stretched my hand toward the side table where the alarm was and managed to turn it off.
I got up and sat on my bed without opening my eyes. I took a deep breath as I felt and confirmed that I had managed to wake up alive today by the grace of God. I smiled and swung my legs off the bed as I stood up.
I stretched my hands as I tried to guide myself out of my room with my eyes closed. I managed to get to the door and opened it to get out. I carefully walked as my hands guided me to where I should go, but I guess my luck was bad because as soon as I walked for a while, the rest of the way I kept bumping into things—either a side table, corners, or knocking into stuff—but I still did not want to open my eyes until I finally heard my older brother, Kelson.
“What’s the new drama this time, little Muchu?”
I turned toward where the voice came from, but I did not open my eyes as I furrowed my eyebrows. If it were anything else, I would gladly strangle him in exchange for peace, but fate knows I still love him simply for being my sibling.
I breathed calmly, trying to stop myself from opening my mouth only to get myself into trouble, as I turned back to my original position to continue my journey.
“Hey, Muchy, I’m talking to you,” Kelson spoke.
“Kelson Evergreen, one more word from you and you’re sleeping in the dog’s house for a week,” I said calmly as I continued to walk carefully.
On hearing that, I heard silence, followed by footsteps that kept following me. I smiled in victory because I had managed to suppress my brother with my mom’s tricks.
“But seriously, what are you doing walking like that? Are you sick or something?” he asked, confused.
“No,” I replied.
He went quiet for a while as he tried to understand what was actually going on when I heard a gasp that almost scared me.
I turned toward the voice and asked, “What happened?”
Only for Nelson to say the most shocking thing that almost made me open my eyes and beat him up.
“Ooh, Muchy, please don’t tell me you’re actually blind.”
“God save him when I open my eyes,” I said internally.
At this moment, I decided to ignore him, not for anything else but for my own peace of mind and sanity.
He laughed at my reaction as he then said, “Okay, I’m joking. Okay, sorry, but seriously, why are you doing that?”
I sighed in exasperation as I replied to him, “Because I want to sleep more, and I want to go and ask Mom if I can’t go to school today. Can I stay home if she has no plans for me today? If so, then I will go back to bed and still find sleep. But if I open my eyes, then all sleep is gone till bedtime, and the last thing I want is to want to sleep but not be able to for the whole day,” I said with seriousness.
I could feel my brother’s look and sense that he was looking at me like I might be the strangest person to make such an excuse just to act blind, but I had no proof of that since my eyes were not open.
“Want me to help you, walking you?” he suddenly asked.
I stretched my hand like a sassy, spoiled princess as I said arrogantly, “Well, chop-chop. Get moving, busybody.”
“What did you say?” Kelson asked.
“What? Ain’t you moving to assist the princess?” I said challengingly with a smirk.
He knew the moment I said that and smirked that all hell would break out later.
He sighed and then held my hand, walking me to the sitting room. It did not take long since our house was a villa—not too fancy or anything, but it was livable after all. My dad was a well-known surgeon, my mom was a well-known award-winning actress, and my older brother was the heir to the company of my maternal grandparents.
Seriously, our house may have big shots who are well-known in society, but the actual interesting part is that the public doesn’t know our relationship and, most importantly, I ain’t popular. I’m just an ordinary child in this family who is spoiled but also raised well, I could say.
We got money, but our parents taught us to be simple and reasonable. I could say that’s because my dad comes from a humble household, and he’s afraid that if we get too much, we might end up being arrogant, spoiled brats. But I guess we grew up to be fine people.
“Ooh, family rule: everyone listens to Mom.”
That thought alone always gets me sitting for a while, laughing because Mommy only listens to me, especially when I cry.
I’m that little home princess, and in all honesty, I love this simple life. It’s beautiful and peaceful, without drama, scandals, or anything hurting us.
