THE HANGOUT

834 Words
GABRIELLA’S POV When I got back home, I was totally beat from all the classes I had. I decided to crash for a bit before hitting up Hannah about the hangout. Woke up a few hours later, checked the time, and it was already 6:30 pm. Dragged myself out of bed, took a quick shower to freshen up.Texted Hannah instead of calling, and she said she'd swing by. We could prep together since I practically live next door to the woods;Yea the woods are my neighbours; Hahaha. Headed downstairs, overheard Sam on a call, looking all serious and intense in the kitchen. "I don't care how you find him, but I want to see him," she snapped before hanging up. Catching sight of me, she softened, "Darling, how was school today?" Her demeanor had shifted to calm, yet there was still a hint of frustration lingering. "It was alright, made some friends," I replied with a smile, heading to the fridge for a drink. As she placed two glasses on the counter, she remarked, "Yeah, I knew you would, you looked really cool this morning." Pouring the juice, I bantered, "Yeah? You think I looked cool? That's funny because I thought I looked hot." She chuckled, "Well, and that too," as we both sipped our juice. Suddenly, a knock at the front door interrupted our conversation. "I'll go check, probably for me," I said, turning towards the door. Opening it, I was surprised to see Hannah standing there. "Hey girl," she greeted, holding shopping bags in both hands. Confused, I asked, "What are those?" "Are you gonna let me in before the interrogation, miss detective?" she quipped, breezing past me like a regular visitor. Once inside, her jaw dropped in awe at the beauty of the house. "Yeah, I know, I felt the same way when I first came here," I grinned, sensing her thoughts. "OMG, girl, you live in a fabulous mansion!" she exclaimed. "Yep, baby, I sure do," I replied, leading her to the sitting room. Just then, my aunt strolled in with another drink in hand. "Hello, young lady," my aunt greeted, handing the drink to Hannah. She accepted it, popped it open, and took a sip. "Good evening, ma'am," Hannah greeted with a smile. "Oh, call me Sam; I'm Gab's aunt, still very young," my aunt chuckled. "I'm Hannah, nice to meet you," Hannah said, receiving a hug from my aunt. It still felt weird calling her Sam. "Okay, I'll leave you two to have fun; I'm heading upstairs," she said, turning to leave. "Hey Aunt, I was thinking of tagging along with Hannah to a party tonight," I inquired, halting her steps towards the stairs. "Yeah, you can go, just stay cautious and keep your phone handy," she cautioned. "Sure thing," I grinned, and we all headed upstairs together. Sam went to her room, while Hannah and I went to mine. We got ready together, looking stunning. Hannah had bought me a red mini pleated dress that was incredibly short, barely covering my backside. Despite its length, I didn't care anymore; I wanted Jason's attention. He was still on my mind, driving me crazy. After about an hour of getting ready, we left the house and headed straight to the beach. We took a different route to avoid the woods, which seemed too eerie at night. Upon arrival, I noticed many unfamiliar faces, with only Jason's, Ryan's, and that girl from class standing out. As we approached them, whispers began, especially from the girl who seemed fixated on me, glaring like I killed her dog or something. They were all sitting in a circle around the fire. Hannah went to sit near a boy, and I followed suit, taking a seat beside her. They kissed, and I assumed they were a couple. Feeling the cold, I snuggled further into my jacket, regretting wearing the dress. I glanced up and saw him, the one I had been yearning to see, at the opposite end of the circle, gazing directly at me. His intense stare seemed to tear every piece of my clothing, warming me amidst the chilly night. Suddenly, I heard Hannah speaking to me, but her words didn't register in my head. "Just f**k him already," she murmured in my ear. "No way," I replied, laughing in embarrassment. "Yeah, sure," she retorted before turning to another girl who had brought a dog to the party. Who brings a dog to a party? I thought Introducing me to everyone, Hannah said, "So everyone, this is Gab; she's new here from Italy." Feeling a bit embarrassed, I greeted everyone. The atmosphere tensed as the girl called Lucy made a snide remark, " Yea we know the girl who doesn't know her place here" but Hannah shut her down, " Shut up Lucy, " earning surprised reactions from the group. Lucy's glare intensified, hinting at a deeper conflict between her and Hannah. This is going to be one fun hangout after all.
