“That girl though,” one of them says suddenly.
I still.
“What girl?”
“The one we brought here last time. The one they kept at the boss’s mansion. That one was different from all the other assets.”
The world narrows.
“Thought she was sold.”
“Nah. Never cataloged. Never moved. And we never bring an asset off route. She was kept here on purpose.”
My fingers curl slowly against the wall.
“What are they doing with her then? Is she a personal pet for the boss?” he sneers absurdly. Which I know what he meant.
