Aria I twist out of his grip and drive my elbow into his ribs, hard enough to hear breath leave his body in a sharp, startled sound. My foot connects with his knee before he can recover. He goes down swearing. The second one lunges. I kick him square in the chest and he stumbles back, surprise flashing across his face. He wasn’t expecting resistance. They never do when they think they’ve planned enough. I don’t scream. I don’t hesitate. I run. Not away—through. The first man recovers faster than I want him to. He tackles me low, momentum carrying us into the side of the van. Pain sparks through my shoulder. I bite down on it and drive my knee up, connecting with something soft.
