Folded together, chest to chest, their heartbeats matched rhythm. When they’d emerged from the stone house, Franklin pulled her away from the cluster of vehicles. They’d barely spoken since, simply held each other.
Georgie noted the arrival of a mute ambulance, travelling at a sedate pace because the emergency was over for Goyne.
