CHAPTER THIRTY-FOUR Georgie cut left over a short causeway crossing the lake and hooked right. Unusually, there were plenty of parking spaces, and she nosed the Spider into one facing the water. She tugged the key from the ignition yet lingered, listening to the tick of the engine. It smoothed the edges, allowing her heartbeat and breathing to fall into steadier rhythms. She hadn’t been able to drive straight through to Yandoit as she’d planned. The intense reaction she’d had coming into Daylesford only a few weeks after she’d left it behind for good, added with her sleep deficit and angst about AJ, necessitated a break.
