Walking into Mia’s room felt strangely intimate. The space had changed so much from how I remembered it. Small plants sat around the room, and the tiny lamp glowing near the bed gave the place a warmth it didn’t have before. My eyes landed on the photo frames beside the wall next. There were pictures from her pregnancy, Lior’s birthdays, and baby pictures of him covered in cake while smiling at the camera. I found myself smiling while going through the pictures until my eyes landed on the picture Mia and I took that summer. I stared at it longer than necessary before looking toward her. Mia suddenly seemed very focused on everywhere else except me. That reaction alone made me smile. “I see you made some changes in here.” “I… I just like decorating and moving things around sometimes.
