By the time we got to the restaurant, one look at the place already told me I probably couldn’t afford a bottle of water there. Just as we got out of the car and were about to head toward the entrance, Mason’s phone rang. He glanced at the screen, then at me. “Go ahead with Lior. Give them my name. I’ll be there in a minute.” I nodded. “Okay.” Lior slipped his hand into mine as we walked toward the entrance together. A hostess in black greeted us with a polished smile that disappeared the second I mentioned Mason’s name. “Reservation under Mason Hayes.” Her gaze moved over me slowly, from my faded jeans down to my shoes before coming back up again.
