I went straight to the hotel after leaving Mason’s house.
I had rushed out earlier when I got the call about Lior. Now that things at the hospital were sorted, I needed to know where I stood here and if I could get time off to be with him through the surgery.
Jane spotted me the second I walked in. “Mia, what happened?”
“Lior’s in the hospital. He needs surgery.”
Her face dropped. “Oh my God… that poor boy.”
Then panic replaced it. “How are you going to handle the bills?”
“I don’t have to. It’s been taken care of.”
She blinked. “How?”
“It’s a long story. I’ll tell you later.”
She looked at me, then nodded.
“Do I still have a job?” I asked. “Did Mr. Mac ask for me?”
She waved it off. “Don’t worry. I covered for you. No one noticed you were gone.”
I let out a breath. “Thank you.”
